Dropping it at episode 27, as I heard it does not get any better.

-Too many 1-dimensional, idiotic characters. Almost everyone is poorly written/portrayed. We have the FL's dad STILL badmouthing Si Feng after he was proven to be wrongly accused and punished. My favorite character was Si Feng, but even he demonstrated he's just an irrational simp after episode 26 and 27.

-The same garbage, cringey OST plays whenever Xuan Ji uses her powers. Change the song/music for once. The usage of the song on episode 27 at 28:44 - 32:30 makes NO SENSE. Xuan Ji isn't using her powers to defeat an enemy or save Si Feng. She's killing her friends! Why are you playing this uplifting theme song when her friends are getting killed by her??? Oh my lord.

I don't (anymore). After watching their 9 past lives, I have concluded the ML is just an irrational simp. Who the hell falls in love with and becomes THIS attached to a completely emotionless person? It makes no sense.

He's not using his position as a man and the FL's position as a woman to mock her. He's using his position as a supposedly smart, successful CEO of a big company and the FL's bottom of social class status. It has nothing to do with gender imo.

How is he misogynistic? Thinking someone -who so happens to be female- is stupid doesn't make you misogynistic. The ML obviously doesn't see the SFL that way.

And don't trust anyone who thinks it makes sense to compare a wuxia BL drama to a modern contract marriage drama 💀

Watched up to episode 21 so far. Does it get any better?

This drama is so highly rated but the amount of plotholes, "???" logic/common sense-defying moments, silly misunderstandings, and the cringey theme song that plays every time Xuan Ji uses her powers is too much for me.

edit: I watched a couple more episodes and omg the cringe theme song played for a whole 5 minutes. Feels like I'm watching a superhero scene made for 8 year olds every time the song plays while Xuan Ji's using her powers. I think I have to mute these scenes.

Really looking forward to this. I really liked DYX in "Romance of Tiger and Rose" and "Moonlight". The female lead also seems quite charming in the trailers.
I hope it won't be too confusing though. 7 lifetimes in 36 episodes??

Half a year later after watching a few other romantic c-dramas, this is still probably my all-time favorite. The chemistry between the 2 leads is something very few other c-drama couples can even come close to.

I really need to see these 2 in a proper drama.

Deng Lun was among my top 3 favorite actors, but it's hard not to lose respect for him after this. Tax evading is just pure greed as if the millions you're making isn't already enough.

This drama went from a 10/10 to an 8/10, and now after finishing episode 38 it's probably a 5/10 for me.
The FL is one of the worst I've seen in any drama. Nothing will stand in her way of revenge. Even if it means working with the same people who raped the poor girl. Even if it means blowing up a cargo ship killing innocent people. It might not be as bad if the revenge story was actually intriguing, but it's not! Fake Rong Ding Kun is one of the weakest villains in any drama I've watched. He's despicable, but that's not enough to be a good villain. He's basically a fish on a chopping block for the FL. He has already been disabled 10+ episodes ago, and the FL doesn't want to kill him because his current condition is worse than death. Then what else does she want to do??? Destroy his business? What's the point? ML took over the family business already. You're just hurting him & his family.
She shows VERY little care for the ML despite everything he's done for her. She holds Meng Xu An's hand like they're lovers. I know C-Dramas often have FLs that don't draw the line with the SML, but this FL is worse. She willingly steps over the line.

The only way to save this drama is to have the FL do something very horrible and the ML dumps her at the end. Because this manipulative b**** does not deserve him at all.

The FL isn't the only reason I'm starting to dislike this drama. The poorly filmed action scenes, choppy editing, logic holes, and multiple "1 in a million" occurrences ruin any immersion I have. Did they expect me to feel 😢 when they revealed FL's brother? Nooo... it was more like 🤨. I guess this is a lesson to not watch drama until they finish airing, because who knows if they'll turn into shit like this one after you've already started watching.

No, he's intelligent.
He was kind of powerless at the beginning because he just returned home after staying at military academy for years. He was also quite easily manipulated by the FL because of his deep love for her, and people are mistaking it as him being dumb. But as the story progresses, he proves himself to be very capable. This is character development.

In episode 31 at 31:50, Wen remarks that "it'll be hard to take advantage of their weakness" - implying that if the Rong family continued their opium business, Meng family would be able to exploit it.
So maybe Jiasheng closing their opium business was actually a good idea.

It's not the ML being able to drive a plane that's fake.
It's the whole execution of the scene. In episode 29 at 24:52, their shoes sound like they're walking on hard floor, when it's just sand. That + the poor CGI ruined the whole scene for me.

I think the past few recent episodes were kind of poorly done, especially the airplane scene lol. People probably started rating it lower because of that, orr they think the 2 leads are siblings.

I felt sorry for her, but then I remembered she wanted Yang Xiucheng to take over the Rong family+business and make the ML powerless.

When the FL was a governess, he had no idea what she really wanted. How would he know what he can do for her other than the little things (such as dealing with the servant spying on the FL, vouching for the FL being innocent when under investigation, etc)

Once he knew what she wanted, he did the most that he realistically could to help her. e.g. forcing his dad to give up his opium stores and making him pay the victims of the fire gold.

Also, I'm not sure how he's supposed to "leave everything for her". His father literally threatened him to marry the rich girl with the FL's life. Leaving everything behind to be with the FL would be extremely selfish of him and would likely result in the FL (+ maybe her family & friends) being killed by his father.
