am confused .. can someone explain this to me ... d forth prince wang so and d princess are brother and sister…
If you look at the Goryeo royal family trees inbreeding seemed especially prevalent, might explain all the craziness later on. And of course the Egyptian royals married brother to sister. European royal families did so much inbreeding that hemophilia became an issue and was known as a royal disease. Not saying it's not icky, and I really wish that the writer had taken some artistic license with it here and done away with it somehow, but Fay is right, in history, Wang So did end up marrying his half-sister. So this is historically accurate.
am i missing something? is there anyone could explain why is Wang soo sent to Kang family? ang why his mother…
I think the scar is the reason, but even more than the scar is the fact that his mom GAVE him the scar. Some people (really sick crazy people like mommy dearest there) manifest extreme guilt by distancing themselves from it and lashing out in anger. So in all the world that is the thing she feels most guilty about, her one great regret, but because she is a stone cold witch, she cannot let herself have those "weak" feelings and so she pushes So away and says she is not even his mother so she does not have to face those feelings of guilt.
I watched this primarily because of the director- I had already watched IRIS, TWTWB and IOIL. And I m not disappointed…
I was thinking about the original Chinese where the character is in her mid teens at the start. But even in this version did you notice how IU mentioned more than once that her face felt firmer and her body felt younger? She mentioned stuff like that a couple times. I think she clearly is younger in Goryeo than she was in the present day.

I agree that KYJ would have been too young. That's why I actually think IU's casting is good because she is of legal age yet she can look really really young (the character at the start should only be like 15 years old or something there abouts). Although Park Bo Young would have been even better because of her acting chops. But I think IU will pull it off well in the end. It's a hard part and hard role to cast. I'm so saddened by the domestic ratings. This show deserves better.
I kind of want to see him play a villain. A real one, not one turning out to be the heroe in the end. I just want…
He is going to in a new movie called VIP which is cast and I think starts shooting later this year. I want to see this too. He gives off an Lee Min Ki vibe to me (must have been the modeling) and so I think he would make a great villain.
Do you know what this drama will be? This will be one of those wonderful workplace / slice of life dramas with the slow burn that I absolutely LOVE (like Dalja's Spring), but that is going to get poor ratings and probably poor reviews outside of Korea for being too slow. All I know is that they darn well better not cut it - I cannot do that twice in one year to a drama I love!
In I hear your voice, she had one scene where she was crying where I thought it was academy worthy acting. Then…
Oh my! I know this comment is two years old, but I am rewatching IHYV right now and I was coming over here to say the same thing! WOW! Exactly, I literally just watched that scene where she is crying in the bathroom and it is so good. She was so freaking good in this drama, and then she was just flat terrible in Big Man, and has been a zero ever since. But I think IHYV was a very special drama written by a very special writer who has this way of bringing out the best in everyone, so maybe that was it.
Enjoying this drama but I wish they would tone down the slow mos a bit. They don't need to slow mo every single…
YES! That''s driving me nuts too! I mean come on, we get it. Ji Woon is the main character but he's not Neo for goodness sake and this isn't the Matrix!
So that's only the 2nd time I've seen Kim Go Eun, and she really was great. I'd like to see her in more sageuk roles - action ones especially, as I think she was better in that than Cheese in the Trap. Of course, Cheese had flaws that maybe taint my appreciation.
Is it just me or is Taec Yeon's acting not too bad in this? I mean, I think he just has one of those faces that has trouble emoting (like Song Seung Heon). But as the show goes on, he seems to be doing better than his usual self at least. I think he is particularly good (for him) in episode 8.
Every time I jump into a hype train the drama always ends up disappointing in some way, e.g. Cheese in the Trap,…
You said it! Dramas let me down almost every time. Doesn't stop me from getting my hopes up, but almost every time! Fingers crossed because this writer did bring one of the few that did not let me down in Queen In Hyun's Man.
Episode 4 has some wonderfully meta commentary: at the beginning when Kang Chul keeps talking about how all these events and decisions he made have no logical reason behind them, it just reminds me of how many Kdramas have characters do stupid things just to further the plot. HA! Like how many times have characters gone to meetings where we KNOW they are going to be in danger and they go ALONE anyhow!? I love it that he points out how it makes no sense that he left his bodyguard behind!
Also, these logical inconsistencies are becoming more and more frequent shows how the writer is getting desperate and sloppy (and crazy probably) such that none of the actions make any sense anymore. Really neat - this show is just really really neat!
