I love this drama so much! But I have no idea how they are going to wrap it up in 1 hour. So many loose threads! I hope they don't rush it like so many Kdramas but I don't see a choice. I will definitely be writing a review of this gem. Possibly the most underrated drama of the year!
This drama looks really good. Good acting, etc... Normally I would have kept watching this. But I have a young…
Oh, I know. It's just it was so traumatic that while I tried to keep watching it I just kept thinking about that poor little boy. It was more than I could handle. Too bad.
I had to quit watching it because of that. I mean, I think it is a very good show, but I have a young son and that made me so upset, I had to just stop watching the show altogether. I couldn't handle it.
This drama looks really good. Good acting, etc... Normally I would have kept watching this. But I have a young son and when that kid died in the second ep because of the main character's utter stupidity and carelessness, I just couldn't watch any more. It's not so much because of the situation as my emotional reaction. I just don't have the stomach for children dying. It's too close to home. Sorry, Mrs. Cop, you look like a good drama, but I can't do it. If only you had let the child live. I think the scare would have been enough. He didn't have to die. ;(
Guess I will watch Yongpalyi after all, now that I have room in my schedule. Darn, I'm still rattled by that death.
There is some seriously flawed writing in this drama and it really could have been so much better. But I'm not going to dwell on the negatives right now. I just saw a scene in episode 10 and I have to tell you, I now remember why I like Lee Yoo Bi so much (not her character here) - she can act; she really can! Just give her good writing and watch her go to work. So you naysayers, I'm telling you right now, it's not the actress, it's the character. Lee Yoo Bi is great!
Also, I'd never seen Changmin in anything before but had heard only bad things. Maybe the secret is for him to do sageuks because I think he has been nothing but wonderful in this, plus he has one of the better written characters. So those are my positives for the day.
Hm. I really like the cast and the directing and it started off quite good. The directing and acting stayed great throughout. But what really dragged it down for me were the big bad guys. I mean, so the spies got killed by the government and that's messed up and all. And I can understand the kids wanting revenge. But what I don't understand is the overreaction. I mean get revenge on the guys who did that to your dads, sure, but why did so many others join in the fight and how exactly is unleashing a deadly virus on innocent people a way to get revenge?
And they go around talking like what they are doing is so noble for some kind of ideals as though we as the audience are supposed to feel a little bad for them. I'm sorry, writernim, I'm not sold. Those guys are pure evil and I don't feel the least bit bad for any of them. Once you start messing around with bio weapons and torture you have lost the high ground. Anyhow, this took me out of it. It was still good, but they should have re-thought how they wrote the storyline of the bad guys.
I have discovered that if you fast forward through all the parts that have Cha Seo Hoo in them (and now the "President" character too), this show is more enjoyable. Try it out.
How great is my love for Ha Ji Won? Pretty darn great since I continue to watch this piece of drek. It makes me laugh because what was the last terribly written drama I kept suffering through for the lead, oh, yeah, that was Hyde, Jekyll and Me because of Hyun Bin!
At least in this drama though there is a good supporting cast, great chemistry between the OTP and some adorable secondary characters (ie Ha Na’s family), plus decent directing. Binnie was really out on that Jekyll and Me limb totally alone. That said, this drama is just terrible. And Oh Ha Na started off ok and has just become everything that can possibly be wrong with a female lead. And the second male lead is just awful in every imaginable way (not the actor, the character). He actually reminds me of a grabby, obnoxious chaebol lead male in the realm of someone Lee Min Ho might play (if you get my meaning), but in this case he's the 2nd male lead and everyone hates him! So Ha Na, is what? Clinically insane?
Spot ON! You said it all! I have even skipped some episodes and just read recaps because it was liking watching cement dry to watch this show. I thought it would be at least enjoyable but it wasn't. A goldfish and a tree - apt analogy!
Episode 8.......OMO OMO OMO OMO OMO OMO! REPLAY, REPLAY, REPLAY. (But even better than the insanely hot sexy kiss, one of the best of all time, was how Soon Ae stepped out so Bong Sun could experience it. That was so incredible and moving. What a great piece of writing.) I cried while I swooned. Damn! Well done, writernim!
Anyone else wish that since LJK's character is a vampire and things probably have to end badly for him anyhow, that Yang Sun could have her status restored and end up being Yoon's queen? I mean maybe a while after LJK's character dies and finally gets to rest and leave this vampire existence in some noble act of sacrifice. I ship Yang Sun and Yoon so bad!
If this drama did not star LJK and have a lot of pretty and a fair amount of action, I would have dropped it. The writing is really bad. I don't know when the last time was I saw LJK do a drama that was so poorly written - never, I think. This could have been so awesome, but the writing is very clunky, kind of like Gu Family Book's writing, very clunky, like a kid wrote it. Fortunately I still love all the actors and the characters for the most part (although the romance between the OTP is probably the worst written part, at least they have a little chemistry). I even really like Changmin, who probably has one of the best written characters. I just keep thinking, OH, what could have been. :(
I am watching episode 5 now. Is it worth continuing? I just feel that it'll turn dark as i go further
I thought Uee was fantastic in Ho Goo's Love. One of the reasons I even gave this drama a shot was because I loved her so much in that. However, I don't blame her for the boringness of High Society and my meh attitude towards her character. I think it's all the writing. Her character had so much potential but has really just been very badly written, along with Sung Joon's character, and the plot overall.
I like how this series isn't falling under predictable cliches. I thought episode 8's climax of Ji An's attacker…
I'm with you. And not just with the examples you listed, but in so many ways this drama avoids cliches and predictability. I mean ever when everyone probably had the identities of certain character(s) figured out, the show still manages to throw in little details to make you keep thinking there's still more to be discovered! And the directing is fantastic!

Purely my opinion, but I'm really disappointed by this drama. I like all the actors and the premise sounded watchable. But the lead characters are badly written (in some ways) so that you never understand what they are thinking and the female lead often does nonsensical things. The 2nd leads are great. But overall I am also finding this drama really boring. It's missing a spark. I don't know. I like Uee and Sung Joon a lot but this isn't doing it for me. I got so bored I just read recaps of a couple eps and I guess I'll pick it back up for the finale. There is a lot of pretty though and some great chemistry between the 2nd leads. But all this is just my opinion. It's not a trainwreck or anything. It's just not great.
