Now THIS is the Julia Xiang who killed it in LOTDT. Glad TWD was just a blipโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘
She is a stunning outside of the 'sparkle cookie cutter actress' pool. Each time I see her I like her more and more. I too liked her as Mu Qing Ge though this feels like another level even though its a short amount of time. You could deeply feel the characters pureness. Wow.

The poem is very widely quoted and originates from Shijing ่ฏ—็ป of the Book of Songs, one of the Five Classics…
Telling yourself the unvarnished truth and living with it. Giving space to reconcile his responsibility, her/their want from the reality. Resignation, in that question, is the point of conversion that creates the ease or re-ease. For me the biggest take away in these scenes between them is that he steadfastly refuses to separate himself from himself. The writing in the drama is no joke.

Ep 12: Timestamp 3:57. If any native speakers can please take the time to translate the poem "Gloomy Winds…
My take was she was using the stanzas to express her feelings, resignation, acceptance, and respect for him. One thing I love about reciting poetry is how it can be used to 'mark time' - even a moment - and fill it with literally (pun intended) a lifetime of meaning. It suggests there in much depth to her character that is yet to be revealed.

What doesn't seem right about it? A person can fall in love instantly. Others fall in love during hardships. There…
Your thoughtfulness is always appreciated JieJie. Even when we happen to disagree. This did not feel like Stockhold syndrome as much as her being so pure hearted and him being opened, attracted, and exploitative However, "Emotional ties...", does seem to be the best birds eye view way to understand it.

Ms. Bai's arc exceeded my expectations, I've thought it would be boring... Gu Pingwen is also an interesting character,…
The Bai Yi Mei character is facinating and the actress Julia Xiang is hitting all her marks and then some. The arc has been both enjoyable to watch and thought provoking.

This is set in Qing dynasty, one of the more judgemental and oppressive periods in Chinese history as far as women…
Well reasoned and informed. As typcial of your comments PBG & Megumi-H, it helped me line up my own thoughts on the matter and the state of womenhood in history (Qing dynasty).

The tea picking scene in eps 13 was beautiful.
Absolutely stunning. As was the shots across the top of the hills/mountains. Drama is delivering on natural visuals.

This helps to understand it. Wondering if he planned on killing Gu too?

Episode 13 - just realized the actor playing the general Zhu Ya Wen was in Ming Dynasty. Threw me off that his voice is dubbed. Appreciating him here in this drama.
