I wanted to. Just can not. Got to and through ep 10 and had to call it. Its a drama in a blender and the ingredients are overripe/underripe/rotten. So many implausible elements (e.g., the FL lack of logic including agreeing to marry a dead man to get ahead with her investigation, the visual age gap between the ML & FL is way to large to be believable, and the inconsistent representation of the crossbow mechanism itself including the strike patterns is beyond annoying).
And, ffs - I thought Ding Yu Xi figured out his nail biting dilemma. Looks like he stuck his finger tips in a meat grinder. I remember they had to add extentions to his nails in LGEF (which were nice actually). So many viewers complained. That and I actually like his elder brother in the lead of both the family and the drama. Crap.
There is one positive. KYX is his usual adorable big-eye emoting self like a cartoon character. Never gets old.
gonna add one more side actor (piece) yummy candy counter - Wang Ming Yang (what happened to this guy anyway? scandal?)
gonna add one more side actor (piece) 'not suppose to but i do anyway' meow award - Qin Tian Yu. come on, he is killin it!
gonna add two more oooweee that is some power up acting - father emperor & prime minister. both actors took it way there when the time arrived. while the emperor explosion was more startling the prime ministers 'what's under the mask' reveal had more lingering power.
Its turning into a hard no quickly. Need some help making sense of this drama. For me its going in one ear and out the other. I take offense to the notion that this is like Fangs of Fortune or My Journey 2 U - which are in fact two exceptionally good dramas. Even with the crossover lead actors such a comparison is 110% questionable. Maybe, if pressed, I can imagine a wee bit of Love Game in Eastern Fantasy especially with the attempt at humor and that is about it.
Sweet potato time. That could have beeen one of the most cheesy scenes in recent cdrama history. But, the FL pulled it off by the time she got to the 'I want to spit in all your faces' scene ending. Anyone who wants to argue that Li Qin can not act - bring it on. Ready for the fight. No, she is not the best actress out there. No, she is not the prettiest actress out there. Yes, she is more than good enough. That gurl can channel her inner bad ass man child like no other female in a war general role. Period.
Has anyone noticed how gorgeous and lavish their outfits are? Some of the best I’ve seen in Chinese dramas.
Quality of the fabrics on the leads costumes is insane! They spent bank. Plus they layered the ML up presumably to give him some bulk and presence. I fck with the sway on his silk.
