Da Hae and her mother: When Da Hae throught that I-Na was in danger again, that her mother took her, was the moment that she had enought of being used. What a badass everything she said to her, threatening her with everything she was taught. She free herself this way even if it isn't going to be that easy.
Dong Hee and her mother: I think Dong Hee told her mother many things she needed to hear like how her dreams are conditioning all of their family's lifes. That she stopped to pursue her dreams because Man Heum insisted that she should get married and make a family and that was that. I really don't feel Man Heum really listened for what happened in episode 10 but still was great seeing someone telling her all of this.
Hyung Tae and Gwi Joo: More like a conversation (Because we know the uncle is a man of little words) it was all the scene trying to find I-Na. I like when Gwi Joo tell him "you been tailing her since when?" in an accusatory way and Hyung Tae answer: "You should have know, you're his father". Just a sentence that make Gwi Joo face the reality of how he neglected her daugther.
Gwi Joo and I-Na: This scene. So beautiful. Not only Gwi Joo get to know about his daugther powers she also gets to know how much her father regrets everything that he did regarding her care. He messed everything up, he neglected him so much but he will try to be better for her in the future. The next scene with him teaching her how to ride a bike is just πππ. Also you can see how things already changed in episode 10, the family scenes with the three of them (The cutest family tbh) and after how she help Gwi Joo to regain is powers to find Da Hae. Best father-daugther combo.
In the preview it seems that Da Hae is going to try to found another solution, hope the mother listen again.
I'm going to tackle first my main problem: Da Hae went to the noble idiocy path and i spend half the episode pissed about it. Like i said not long ago in another drama comments this is my most hated trope and i don't tolerate it but if after is deal with in an appropiate manner maybe i can change my mind (Example cdrama "Love is sweet").
I was ready to be dissapointed with this one but suddenly we got that final scene when the noble idiocy is deal with in the best possible way i ever saw (This script can't be better tbh i'm amazed by it):
-Gwi Joo ask the right question "What will you do this to me?" and Da Hae stopped the running and the lying and told him the truth "you are going to die saving me, and you promise I-Na you will be there for her. Go to her"
-Gwi Joo understand now why she did it but tell her: "This is just too cruel, don't you think? you know how i was before i met you. I can't go back to that. I can't take care of I-Na like that. Can you even call that living?"
-Da Hae, defeated, told this to Gwi Joo: "You're right. I-Na must be an excuse. I guess i'm just being selfish. Even if you can't really live, even if the only thing you can do is breathe, i just... want you to be alive. That's better than you being gone"
Da Hae acknowledge what she did was wrong and selfish, this is soo important. Because it is never good to make decision for others tbh. Now they can really move on from this and find a solution together since i don't believe the mother is right: The future can change because there is a new variable now, the fact that Gwi Joo can touch and interact with Da Hae in the past (In fact Gwi Jo got that lotery ticket that will had been impossible to get from the past before). I just feel that Man Heum wants to be right above everything even saving her son. She treat all her family like a sargent, i really can't deal with her, is clearly the worse character of them all.
I will make another post to talk about episode 9 because this was long enough sorry lol.
I can't wait to watch tomorrow tbh.
I get why Joe is doing what he is doing: First the tragedy with the mother and also that he really can't forget Ming. It is sad? Yes because everyone can see (the first one Joe) that Ming is an awful person (Actually Joe believe he still wants him as a stan-in for Tong. His self-esteem is going to end up completely crushed). this is something that happens in real life? Also yes, because sometimes we can't help to fall for the wrong guy/girl.
The last scene was so charged and so well acted: How Ming forced that kiss and Joe try to resist but end up kissing him too. this two are killing me tbh.
On the good list:
-The comedy was on point all the drama, even the last episodes. I laugh in a lot of moments specially the ones with In Hyuk because he is just hilarious.
-The main couple have lots of chemistry, that is undeniable.
-I think the story is very well constructed to be about time travel and i enjoyed some plot twist like the end of episode 2.
But, in the end, the things i didn't like weight more so my rating was lower that i expected:
-In the last episodes (13 to 15) we got so many flashbacks. Sooo many. This is super lazy. Some of them we saw over and over and over.
-The second couple was not it and i don't understand why we got so many scenes with them when we got a character like In Hyuk that should have all that screen time. I love him so hard and i think he was completely underused.
-And of course, the main problem, Sol's noble idiocy was just too much for me. This trope is my most hated trope and i can't really tolerate it in most cases. If it happens and then it is deal with in a good way (Like in the drama "Love is sweet" well the noble idiocy of the ML have consequences meaning the FL is mad at him for a while and he end up understading why was wrong he did that) maybe but what we got here? She was ready to reject him again at the start of the last episode if he didn't tell her that he remembers everything. Not only that, but it is Seon Jae that keeps apologizing for not remembering. I just can't take this tbh.
I will recommend this one? Well, it is funny and if noble idiocy is not something that bothers you, go for it :).
Hye Jin is a smart, talented and successful woman. She saw clearly that the director of the other academy was offering her the world because she was going to lose. She knew her own director was doing her dirty and confront him about it (What the director did was so low. Such a coward little man, he needs to beg more for her forgiveness). She is in control and knows what her goals are.
Enter Jun Ho and everything goes out of the window. Her first student, her pride as she calls him, is making her look at things in a different way. She seems to have lost her love for teaching and that seems back again thanks to him.
The last episode...everything they say to each other was beautiful and hot at the same time. His look when she told him "I like that you need me so i'm dissapointed you don't need me anymore". He was going to melt completely. (Also how i love a bold and straighforward FL tbh).
And the end when he can't take it anymore and told her everything, she is his first love and of course he needs her. I.LOVE.IT
I'm just super scared because it is really too soon for this kind of happiness so the angst is coming sooner rather that later i bet π¬π¬π¬
I think what this last two episodes give us is that the villains are clearly both mothers: Da Hae's mother of course we already knew she is a loan shark and she is basically having Da Hae hostage for the debt of her father. Now she double down and plans to profit of the Bok family forever.
But, right know, i'm not sure if Gwi Jo's mother is even worst: The way she talk to Yi Na and her own husband is despicable. Her family is completely broken and she is still hung up on some powers because those makes her feel special, different and worth it of some kind of status. "I know everything" woman you're not being able to see what is exactly in from of you (As Do Hae said) meaning Yi na powers.
The rest are cleary trying to find their way to a better life: In episode 8 the uncle was just hilarious and Yi Na tricking him was endearing.
Bok Dong Hee and Grace make a good team, i really don't understand why Dong Hee wants that trash of a man back but i enjoyed seeing grace helping her.
Yi Na had great moments in both episodes too: I don't really fully understand why she took the risk to go to the sauna, i know she trust Da Hee but the mother could have hurt her. Still i really liked her scenes together, how Da Hae keeps avoiding her eyes lol. Also when she read her father's throughts he was so confused LMAO. Yi Na is also super smart and observant. She wants Da Hae in their lives because she can see that she is the one that is going to bring her father back. When she told him "You save someone thanks to your power like you wanted to, like a superhero. maybe you can save her too" i was like, what a smart little girl.
And then, our main couple: I can say now that they're, without a doubt, my favorite couple of 2024 (Still a long year to go of course but for now). I'm surprised people in the comments said that they don't see the chemistry because, my god. I already rewatched the final scene on episode 7 when she was crying and asking "Why me?" like she can't actually believe she can be that special and he just smiling at her like that i just...all the feels with this couple tbh.
Episode 8 also let us more insight on Da Hae live and well what a shitty one it was. I understand why they like each other because, in the end, they're two broken people who finally got some hope thanks to the other one: For Da Hae is someone that is making her feel seen and special, the only one he can interact with on his time travel. He is not asking anything for her besides her time. Living a life where everyone wants something for her or simply rejected her this is huge. It is said a lot that her only happy moment is when a stranger brought her shaved ice in a station.
And for Gwi Jo is the fact that he can finally save someone. I understand what people is saying about him, that he should focus more on her daugther and not following a stranger. But we need to undertands how broken and flawed Gwi Jo is: Like he said in today's episode the first time he got his powers were frustrating because he was happy but he couldn't save the little girl's puppy. After that, the birth of her daugther was the happiest moment of his life and gets ruined because his superior died in that fire. He tried to do something going to the past and after trying it over and over and over he got in a big depression that makes his powers out of control and that is how he lost his wife. This was the end for him and his depression took over his life. I'm pretty sure he was feeling guilty for taking Yi Na's mother away for her too so he couldn't really take care of her as he should.
It is been years and, suddenly, this woman came into his life and give him the hope that he actually save someone in that fire and everything that happened wasn't in vain. That him being a neglecting husband and father was for something, that she save a girl's life. This hope is simply everything for his broken mind and soul. We already saw him trying with Yi Na, very clumsy and not enough of course, but he is trying. He just need that more push that Da Hae could give him because she is the one he saved that awful day.
I just started watching dramas and i enjoy all kinds of it. Of course i get that, in dramas, mostly is an unrealistic portrayal of love and perfect relationships and i enjoy those too. But this one is about realistic and flawed characters and i think they're doing a fantastic work with them.
