People were complaining drama way too long hence why 40 ep rules made. So far I think shorter drama is better. No filler and draggy plot for too long. The Starry Love, Lighter and Princess , TBOY are really good and it is 40 ep drama.
My favourite drama is Ashes of Love and I will not lie that I skip so many parts especially demon worlds because it do not affect main plot by any means. I watch entire Immortal Samsara and I loved it but I understand why people complaining about filler. Technically you don't miss anything by skip mortal world and just go to the end. IMO I believe 40 ep is more than enough to tell a story.
So far I enjoyed it. It is pretty much A tier drama ,comfort show that not requires emotion attachment or emotionally drained you. It have everything : political court, scheme, romance, wuxia but all of that are not deep and serious. It is fun and sweet drama. Most importantly is it is not boring and so many things happening on every episode. Also no annoying characters or tropes.
Drama authentically is good looking, costumes are pretty. Cast are amazing and they are doing a good job. MZY did amazing as Hua LiuLi, she play a cute cheeky character so well. Supporting characters also really nice and they are full of personality. While it is good, sadly I think this drama will forgotten after finished airing cause it do not have A list actors/idols and Tencent do not promoting this drama at all. 8.4/10 from me.

Ancient China had really harsh punishment. I remember story of some servant accidentally slept on Emperor chamber and he straight away executed. If servant intentionally wanted to harm a princess, her/his family will wiped out. Have your entire family tree wiped out is harsh and worst kind punishment. Some people actually begging Emperor to just execute him and let his family go.
But this is idol PG romance drama so they needs to toned down such thing. Also have some servant killed cause FL will not give a positive impression of FL.

She don't want to show off. She acting weak and frail because she don't want people think her family is aggressive and torn down a rumor that she is a strong fighter.
I don't want beat a deadhorse but this drama better than Chongzi. I don't expect MZY playing a cute character better than YCY, she also have way better chemistry with JT.

Simply put they needs to take a risk.
Really enjoying this drama. MZY deserve more MC role on the future.
