I'm reading the book and it seems SS takes quite a long time to start developing feelings for LBY. After they are engaged, she is sent to the palace to learn all the skills she missed growing up. LBY picks her up every morning and brings her to the palace and also takes her home so they see each other everyday. She's been training in the palace for about 6 months now and it's the summer, and their marriage date still hasn't been set because it sounds like normally they have marriage ceremonies at the end of the year or something. LBY gets mad at her quite a few times because she is quite aloof when it comes to love and affection and she hasn't learned how to be attentive, thoughtful, and caring. She was reprimanded in the recent chapter that she isn't treating LBY well and that's why he is upset with her. He is always thoughtful towards her but she never even invites him in her house for dinner and sends him home hungry. She finally has a realization and realizes she has been wrong and she tells LBY upfront that she will now make it her first priority to be good to him. He is so moved by this that his eyes glistened and he embraces her tightly for the first time and he felt sooo happy <3
I am rewatching and i feel like i focused too much on LBY's expressions during their interactions that i had sidelined…
I rewatched the scenes too and I started noticing CSS's expressions. She definitely gets a bit nervous everytime she sees LBY and she acts more politely and properly. I can see she admires him and knows he's a prominent general of high ranking, so she seems intimidated by him. I really liked her look when she got escorted into the city and when she received the royal edict. She has always been treated like scum for her whole life, but the only times she's experienced such grand and royal treatment is of course from our favorite LBY! I think she probably could never fathom someone like him falling in love with her! I can't wait to see what her reaction is when she realizes how much he is in love with her. He is already "spoiling" her with all sorts of favoritism even though he hasn't even confessed. <3
This drama is very comical in parts but it's contrasted by pretty violent and gory fight scenes. The same goes for the characters. There are some very sweet characters like 3rd uncle, his wife, SS Dad, the emperor, LBY's guards who are all a bit comical and light but then there are some very dark, cruel and mean characters. It's like a comedy and melodrama mixed together. It's pretty refreshing and different. The pacing is a bit slow but I am enjoying it a lot. I have to skip the grandma scenes though because I can't stand her wailing and whining. I hope they release more episodes because a 4 day gap is long.
What a good drama so far! It's so neat to see "Xiao Nong Nu" and "Yang Guo" from two different versions of Condor Heros to pair up in a drama! I'm trying to imagine if they filmed Condor Heros together since they are actually the same age - only a month apart! Cecilia is so elegant and I love her voice. She would make such a beautiful voiceover but of course she is too busy for that. Every scene is so beautifully filmed and the drama really makes you feel you're in the Song dynasty. I love the camera angles and it's different and refreshing compared to other dramas. I also really enjoy when the ML and FL talk. They are so soft-spoken and polite even when they bicker, even their body language is unlike other dramas. I find most other dramas when the FL and ML bicker, it gets so annoying but here they are more flirting. All the scenes with them are so enjoyable!
At 12 mins everyone will go WTF?! My scale for the drama just went downhill their only credit now is the casting
I actually stopped the moment BFX got stabbed to come here to vent. I thought she got in some super fight with someone badass and got poisoned. I was expecting something spectacular - but instead she literally got stabbed from behind from the most useless character in the entire show. Omg...
This comment is me pointing out/venting abt one of the dumbest thing in the drama
I feel aghast that BFX got injured from an act of complete stupidity. Seriously, the entire Tiansheng Men are so dumb! There's not a single, intelligent person in that whole Sect. How did they help cultivate such an intelligent BFX when the master is dumb and all the disciplines have zero trust in each other and intelligence?? It's actually unbelievable how useless TianShang Sect has been - they should have just stayed in the prison the whole time.
I am struggling with this story with the dad having gastric cancer but being lied that his surgery is for gastric ulcer. That is completely illegal and illogical! A patient has to be given complete informed consent on their condition and all treatment/surgical options! How is it possible they can lie about that?? It makes no sense and it's really ruining the storyline at the moment for me. I can imagine any health professional watching this is probably jumping out of their seats because it is 100% "doing harm" to a patient when they are signing a consent for something they are unaware of. The story here is 0/10! But I like Xiao Zhan's acting so far. I do find it unbelievable that YZ is portraying a 20 year old lady in college. She looks youthful but not young enough for this role. I feel they casted her moreso because she is YZ and rhey couldn't bypass the op of having her and XZ collaborate. Also her emotional intelligence is far too mature to be believable. She acts as XZ's trauma therapist almost which I find awfully strange. I don't know if this story is based on a novel but there are so many errors with the hospital protocols, I am surprised they didn't correct these especially with such famous lead actors. I am just imagining if this happened in real life, what lawsuits this hospital and Dr. Gu would be facing. So just my frustration with the story line...I am going to continue although I am not a XZ fan but his acting is quite good so far. I will try to ignore all the nonsensical plot but I hope this arc about the dad is over soon.
I am over halfway and it's been very difficult watching this. The story is so uninteresting, so I have it on as background. I genuinely feel bad for the actors, I can tell they are trying so hard to put emotions to the lines but the script is to bad, it doesn't even make sense half the time. They have to act like there's so much angst and anguish when there's so little substance to the story and the lines they are saying. The FL really isn't great at acting, I am surprised she got casted as the FL. She doesn't have much chemistry with the ML. Allen Ren did the best he could but the love story had no build up, no climax. It was sooo flat. This kind of reminds me of Legend of Fei with the story being very boring and uninteresting but in LoF, there were lots of sparks between the FL and ML. Here....it's just dull but I am a fan of Allen Ren so I want to support his work but I am going to fast forward and skip to get to the end.
