Title Bad Buddy
it's been so long since i've watched a drama that hooked me in like this. i never watch a drama while it's still airing, but i couldn't help it with this one. i'm so amazed at their chemistry and their acting - they're so expressive, you feel everything they're feeling. i can't wait to the next episodes!

is it a happy ending?

this is, at least for me, the best 2021 drama until now. It has everything: the most beautiful couple with one of the best chemistry I've seen in a drama before, good friendships, actual real life, mature issues instead of childish misunderstandings, characters that act like adults, not a single annoying character plotting and ruining the story, a good pace, beautiful cinematography... I was so surprised by how GOOD this is. I deeply appreciate the fact that the problems between the main couple were never the childish and stupid-easily avoidable type of thing they do in dramas and instead it touched upon some really valid issues between them. it was really refreshing and even in the moments I cried like a baby, I understood where the characters were coming from, why they were acting as they did.
I personally loved Jing Jing - she is such an amazing female character. I usually have a hard time with female characters in most romance dramas, but she is just perfect. She is sweet and cute, but she's also really level-headed and deals with things in such a mature way, she stands up for herself and knows her worth. And her chemistry with Yu Tu was amazing. their kissing scenes were probably the best ones I've seen in any drama recently.
I would re-watch this a million times. it's just THAT good.

There is a chance for season 2 because in the ending they said "see you next year" for the world championships.…
if i'm not mistaken, the drama ends where the novel ends, but the novel has a few extra chapters about them going to the world championship, etcetera. i wish they could at least make a few special episodes, but i doubt we would be that lucky :(

I can't believe I almost didn't watch this because I thought it wouldn't be THAT good. I was so wrong! to me, that's the best drama of 2021. I love every single character, and the main couple has so much chemistry, it's no joke. They had me giggling and screaming every single interaction, especially after they got together - Lu Si Cheng was such a romantic, cute boyfriend, and their kisses were so sweet. This is that kind of drama where you fall in love not only with the main couple but with all of their friends and that family-like dynamic they have. It made me want to read the novel just so I could get a little deeper into the story. I don't even know what to watch now, because I feel nothing is gonna compare to how good this was. I wish this have a season two or a few extra episodes, but I know it won't happen - it's just that the drama is SO good that I'm not ready to say goodbye to it yet.

I wasn’t sure if I should watch this because of all the negative comments. This is not, by any means the type of drama I like to watch, but I was curious about it. In the end, I really liked this drama. To me it doesn't deserve the heavy criticism, even though it's not perfect.
Firstly I think the way it’s filmed it’s really beautiful - the colors, the aesthetic and such - and they used a lot of symbolism to portrait feelings, hidden truths, and foretell future events in the drama, like the rain, the umbrella, the dead flowers, etcetera. It was very intriguing and every episode had a message about the whole story, and I think it’s so subtle that often gets lost if you’re not really trying to understand the plot on a deeper level other than “girl with terminal cancer meets self-hatred deity that has a LOT of mood swings” and that’s why I think It can come off as boring to a lot of people.
To me, every episode was kind of interesting, and at the end of each one I was curious for the next one - it always started lighthearted just to end on a more serious note.
I personally don't think the comparison of this drama to other “supernatural” dramas like Goblin or the tale of the nine-tailed is fair, to be honest. They’re all amazing dramas on their own, but it’s very obvious and crystal clear from the first episode that the focus on this one is more on the life-death situation of the female lead and her reflections about life, love, and humanity and what it all means in a bigger plane then supernatural beings and superpowers, magic and stuff. I think it's mostly about the meaning of life. It does get a little confusing though, especially in the late eps, and sometimes I had to go back to a few episodes to understand some things.
Personally, I think the biggest reason for so many negative comments it’s because people were expecting a cool fantasy drama with magical romance when it wasn’t the purpose on this one, so I get the disappointment. Since I wasn’t really expecting anything AT ALL as I'm not the biggest fan of fantasy dramas, I ended up really liking it.
I liked the main couple. Tbh I wasn’t a HUGE fan of Seo In Guk in other dramas, but he really got me on this one. I don't think his character was the best character of the show by any means, but he was cool and intriguing. I liked FL the most out of the two leads. She was quite sweet, funny, and fearless - she was super down to earth, a good friend, a good sister, a good lover. I really adore her mannerisms and the way she talks so expressively - I think it really suited the character. She sometimes acted in ways that annoyed me or confused me, but overall it was nothing that made me dislike her.
Also, all the side characters were great. Her best friend is AMAZING. probably my favorite character out of everyone. I loved her, her personality and even the love triangle didn’t bother me THAT much (though I would prefer without it).
I do think that somehow, the second couple and the whole love triangle thing shined a lot, and ended up stealing the show in some moments - I think Na Ji Na and Cha Joo Ik had so much chemistry that wasn’t possible to ignore it. As for Lee Hyun Gyu, I liked him better in the beginning than I did in the middle to the end.
Also, I fell In love with Lee Soo Hyuk's character SO much that I would love to see him as a male lead in a romantic drama in the future.
This drama is one of those that don’t have any specific annoying characters (what to me is a win) any unnecessary petty drama - but It DOES get a little draggy at the end.
It’s not perfect, a masterpiece by any means, but I really enjoyed it.
I really recommend this one, despite not being what most people expected.
