this drama is really good, i don't get all the hate on this! I admit that the last 4 episodes were a bit confusing because of the amount of plot twists, but overall it was really interesting and unpredictable. To me the plot was brilliant. Nothing that we had already seen in any Korean drama. Had a great and touching ending too. It was a rollercoaster of emotions most of the time and i shed a lot of tears, but is one of my favorite dramas ever.
even though i still prefer the drama, the movie is great and had a lot of aspects that are better portrayed. I liked this version of Wei Wei a lot better. I know a lot of people don't like angelababy's acting, (myself included most of the time, with the exception of the general and I), but she was a more realistic WeiWei in this than the other actress. It was easier to empathise with her in the movie, and she got that gamer girl thing pretty accurate. I found her moments talking to herself very funny and amusing, too. Other important point is that she was a better kisser too. the kiss in the movie was greater than all the kisses in the drama. Their skinship was better too, more natural. They had a great chemistry and that's undeniable. Cao Guang was more bearable in this version, wasn't as pushy and inconvenient as he is in the drama, so i tolerated his character more. Also, the game scenarios were really beautiful. Now the things i didn't enjoyed as much: Jing Bo Ran is really handsome (and i can't emphasize this enough) and is a good actor, but i still prefer Yang Yang as Xiao Nai. To me, he got his personality aspects better. In this it didn't felt like he was that amazing,-good at everything-intellectual-handsome- unapproachable guy everyone seems to think Xiao Nai is. it was more human, yes, but i guess i liked that cliche of the perfect guy. I thought it didn't showed us the strong friendships the leads have as much as in the drama, specially wei wei's. Her friends weren't as remarkable unfortunately. Also, i missed KO in this. didn't even realise wei wei's internet cafe friend was supposed to be him until i watched the post credit scene. i felt the plot was very rushed, but otherwise, i liked it very much. it's a good enjoyable movie.
I was a little skeptical to start this drama since everyone was praising it so much. With the exception of the general and I always get disappointed with historical dramas, but this one is really worth the hype around it. It's a slow burn, and the story moves very slow paced, but somehow, it works. it had enough politics to be interesting, but enough romance to be dramatic. I loved that Ming Lan's love life wasn't the main point of the story, and the way the plot is constructed around her life makes you really get to know her, understand and sympathise with her as a person. You even care for a lot of her family members. All the villains were amazing, too. I loved how they were deep and ambitious and not just plain, superficial cliche drama villains. Also, i really appreciate all the plot twists in this. they were amazing, and sometimes were totally unexpected. Contrary to many people, i've never really liked 2 male lead, and at the end of the drama i just barely tolerate him. But the male lead is incredible. i loved how fierce he was, how unafraid Gu Ting Ye acted all the time, and he was also very funny and light hearted. That's what made me adore him in comparison to the 2nd male lead - to me the Young Lord was too childish and naive, too weak and "pure" to fight for what he wanted, never once took in consideration how his actions would affect Ming Lan, and always made empty promises to her without the guts to make them real. Even though he loved Ming Lan, they could never work since she was the most intelligent, brave and rational woman i've even seen on a historical drama. He fell in love with her only seeing her "obedient, rational, not ambitious" side, but he knew nothing about how she was an amazing strategist, clever and cunning, sometimes even cold blooded. Ting Ye instead, loved her even more for not being a "docile" wife. I saw a lot of people in the comments hating on the fact that male lead had a "past", but i think that if she ended up with 2nd guy she would never really live as herself. I loved how loyal both her servants and Ting Ye servants were, and how they were actually friends. Her friendship with XiaoTao is one of the highest points of the drama to me. Not to forget the 5th sister and her grandma, they were so sweet too. The only thing i actually didn't like it too much was the "pace" of the last episodes. i felt like the first half of the drama nothing much happens, but at the last 10, 12 episodes all the worst things come together, and it was too much to process at once, since it was multiple plots at the same time, and multiple villains - the empress, old madam gu, the kang woman, etcetera. i had to pause a lot in these eps to breathe and to try to understand it all. i also felt that for this reason, the ending was wrapped a little too rushed at the last episode, since they prolonged all the drama to the end. but overall, this drama is amazing. i cried, i laughed, i was heartbroken, and i cheered for the main leads. probably my favorite historical drama of all times now!
I am having a hard time liking the whole story. i am stuck in a meh... feeling
it's been 5 months so i don't really remember well, but i guess neither her or the male lead really caught my attention making me wanting to see more of the story, but she specially was kind of boring/plain/cliche to me, so i dropped. but a lot of people enjoyed this one, so i guess it was a matter of personal taste!
I love this. it's not perfect, but it was fresh, one of the best thai dramas i've seen. the series was really good, most of the characters were lovable and funny, life at the academy was pretty cool, the story was different and entertaining. BUT. I was so annoyed with Love’s feelings for Vier. Usually in dramas like this, the asshole guy likes the girl, deep down, and do good this for her in secret, so when they end up together, even if u are rotting for the second lead, u be like "ok, i saw that coming." but in here, i don't think vier EVER truly liked her. he never showed her nothing but this arrogant self, and when he was sweet to her, most of the times it was his tricks or him treating her like a male-friend. He only thinks of her in another light after he founds out she’s a girl. the worst of it, to me, is that she NEVER snaps out of it until the last episodes. she keeps liking him when he is a jerk - more of a jerk than any other jerks i've seen in this type of teen drama -, when he says to her awful things, when he USED HER to upset his own best friend - who is nothing but sweet to her and to him -. she sees his true personality first hand and she never snaps out of it until the last moment, which is terrible because it only have 8 episodes. even when she says she's over it, she keeps looking at him like he's the most amazing hardworking man instead of the jealous and ambitious boy who has a lot of things to work on his own personality that he is. It was so sudden how she finally decided that she liked Tangmo and not vier, and Tangmo deserved more development of the romance between them, because it looked very rushed. I guess the fault is in the number of episodes - it’s such a short series for a lot of things to happen. But in the end, i was happy with the ending because he was my favourite guy EVER. And about Vier, god help me. he is the worst friend for all the things he did to tangmo just to win that stupid competition. while Nuclear, Menn, Good, Me and You were always good friends, Vier was the most selfish person i’ve even seen. He was so jealous of Tangmo being as good as him in every way, and the friendship he developed with Love - while he was being a jerk to her - it was so annoying. The writers even tried to make him understandable with his father plot, but it did nothing to me, really. he’s just so spoiled. i just. can’t. Would die for a second season (even though the chance is close to 0) because a lot of things ended without a proper conclusion - Love’s next year at the academy is one of them, but specially rose - she was such a good character, she deserved so much better.
it started great: loved the chemistry between the two leads. The male lead was the perfect mix of the jerk-damaged guy in every drama with a cute unexpected side. Female lead was annoying as hell in the first episodes and acted like a teenager, but she makes up for it with her charisma. Side characters were interesting and complex. It was romantic at times, and it was funny too, had great potential. BUT THEN the writers started to mess with the story too much to a point where I had to skip through the episodes. there wasn't a single time when Bo Hai could rest. every single episode something bad happened to him or his company. so it became very repetitive. It got really draggy towards the end, with all the problems in the main leads relationship. I mean, ok, Chinese dramas do have that dramatic point between the leads in the story and that's something we should obviously expect. In this one, however, they went overboard. it was too much and made the story boring. The last episodes were a bit rushed, too. And that end. Oh boy. I don't even know what to say. I was satisfied with how things ended because I didn't have a lot of expectations since the drama went downhill to me after some point, but it could have been better written. I was very disappointed because I truly liked the whole concept of this drama, and Dilraba is such a great actress. I felt like it was a waste. Not to mention Deng Lun, who was AMAZING as Bo Hai. It was a good drama to pass time, but I wouldn't rewatch this one for sure.
I love Aom with all my heart. I really do. She's one of my favorite actresses. but I can't stand her in this drama, so everytime I start watching, I drop it. it's been three years and I've never finished this just because she's absolutely annoying in this drama. Maybe now in 2019, I can finally watch this until the end?
I want to watch this so bad, but I can't really watch painful love triangles when the girl is always confused. does this drama have one of those, or it's safe to watch?
