Wow such a carefully and well-written review! I am no way near finishing the drama but I wanted your opinion on…
I know you didn't ask for my opinion but I thought id share my view on the ML's actions regarding "using" her for his own schemes.
To me Mu Qingyan is a morally grey and complex character who had a hard upbringing and probably never felt much affection in his life which explains his manipulative behavior because he had to be that way to survive. While he did use and lie to the FL for his own benefits, he was kind of forced to take action that way. Our FL is quite strong-headed and turns a blind eye to her own "righteous" sects actions unless the proof is right in front of her eyes, so he has to "force" her to make a decision. Our male lead spends almost half of the series trying to "instigate" and get her to help him with his big goal which is to get revenge and to bring peace back to Jianghu which is ultimately her goal as well. When Mu Qingyan got caught by the masters, he bet with himself that Zhaozhao would betray her family and sect to save him and even if she didn't he had a backup plan. Zhaozhao just happened to love him enough to fall for his trap and saved him willingly. Was it manipulative on his part? Yes, there's no defending that. But if he didn't try to force Zhaozhao's hand, he wouldn't have been able to lure out Nie Zhe's spies or the man in black. Even after Zhaozhao said she felt betrayed that he used her as a chess piece for his scheme, she said she didn't regret saving him at all because she loves him and can't see him die.
Zhaozhao became Mu Qingyan's whole world and source of light to his once tragic past. He's willing to throw everything away for her including his position as young master of li sect. It's zhaozhao who is reluctant to leave even though she wants the same thing as him. So Mu Qingyan is "forced" to make Jianghu peaceful for her to agree to be with him even if it meant burning the world down including using her to get there. Id say his biggest red flag is not discussing his plans with her but he probably knows she won't listen to him haha. But its for the opposite for him, he will always listen to what she says. If she told him to die for her, he would
My review of the show is going to be buried, but please feel free to leave a thumbs up under the reviews section…
Thank you for such an amazing and detailed review, I pretty much agree with everything you said about the show. I wish we could pin comments but im scared this will get lost in the the sea of comments. I wonder if you could post this an official review for others to read ❤️
I see romance is ranked second in genre. So wondering is there truly a lot of romance for male lead and female…
Ngl this drama might not be for you. While our leads have a lot of cute scenes together, its not them vs the world the entire series, in fact theyre only together towards the very end of the show. Its a slow burner if youre into that stuff so I dont want you to get disappointed while watching it.
If you dont mind that and love obsessive male leads and old wuxias, this is a good entertaining series
While watching episode 32 today, I realised that instant how fed up I am with the leads lack of progress in their…
Wahh sorry to hear that. I quite enjoy it as i think the two leads have great chemistry. I havent shipped a CP for a while so this was an unexpected watch for me. But i do see what everyone is saying how this romance feels more one sided on the mls part
So wait...they were going to elope...but didn't elope. Now he's proposing again (preview trailers?)?Is that right?
they never left to elope. It was all mu qingyan's delusion but Cai Zhao only wanted to save him. He will be going to Luoying Valley to propose to her in public soon though hehe
Bao Shang En looked beautiful during her execution scene, I was in awe and felt emotional for her character. I know she's gotten some criticism for her acting but I thought she did amazing in that scene
Only 7 eps left, I don't know what I'll do without our Mumu and Zhaozhao once this show ends. I hope they will get their deserved ending and closure. All this angst is making me sad, I hope they would make up alreadyy
Honestly i find it very entertaining and grabbing the 'edge of my seat' type of watch. You definitely have to pay attention though because If youre a viewer who likes to leave the drama playing in the background or skip scenes, i think its gonna be hard for you to follow as it has a lot of characters and backstories which is why i feel like theres a lot of negative reviews because they dont understand anything. Theres also lots of romance and comedy if youre into that but if you were looking for more martial arts, theres not much even though its a wuxia
Yuzhi's proposal spot was so beautiful, the slow walk and eye contact he gave to Zhaozhao, who knew he was so gentle and romantic. If Mu Qingyan wasn't so damn attractive, I would have said yes to him on the spot!
