Actually, I find the characters very annoying. Rex in particular is immature and hot-headed (despite being a big fan of Jasper). Also Wu Kang Ren's character is a jerk (sympathetic by the way he plays it though) for being such a cheater.
I would say that even Chloe have her own faults, ditching current boyfriend's show to go to ex-boyfriend's daughter show, she's asking for misunderstanding, she's senseless imo. I also feel that she accepted Rex because she's trying to forget Wang Shi Qi (partly).
The ending feels abrupt because it would make more sense if she ended up as a pianist rather than a singer. The show characters are all flawed (except for William Hsieh's character) and it's quite tiring to watch constant conflicts and angst that filled almost 50% of the show. Tension exists most of the time. It's not particularly badly written because I can feel the ambition of the writer, trying to write "real" characters, however some conflicts feel like they're written for the sake of tension (eg: Rex's drunk session with Lulu).
It's too heavy and angsty for my drama entertainment purposes, I came out of this show feeling tired. I gave this 7/10. Most points for the cast and acting, writing needs polish but I acknowledge the ambition of this writer.
Chang Yu Sheng is a famous taiwanese singer-songwriter back in 1990s, many of his hit songs are covered by famous Taiwanese singers, eg: Amei. He's the idol of people of that era.
You can only get it from weibo (chinese ver of twitter) where netizens upload their recorded version of HBO videos to baidu file sharing site. But you require some knowledge of chinese to get the hang of it. If you have HBO at home, just watch it on demand, it's the legal way to watch it.
hows this show?? can someone give a long-ish feedback of how it is so far, like the plot, acting, etc
I agree that Surgeons is pretty addictive. Watched several episodes of In The Name of People, it's a bit boring for my taste, pace is pretty slow, definitely not my cup of tea but I guess the anti-corruption theme creates lots of buzz in China.
Surgeons have been fun so far. Bai Bai He's grow up is also another fun drama, interestingly it stars Lu Yi (the male lead of In The Name of People), haha. The rating isn't bad, it's actually just "normal decent rating" in my opinion. In the Name of People has an insanely high rating, which is rare.
Regular members get 1ep each day every Mon-Friday. As for VIP members, I heard they just get the whole thing at one go, without schedule limitation. It seems that the remaining episodes will be for season 2?
There should be more. I watched up to ep21 and pretty sure there's more behind. 21 probably refers to end of Season 1. Its baike (wiki) states 46ep though. In case if you're wondering why I have watched up till ep21 when it only premiered Apr5, Tencent VIP members have the privilege to watch all ep at one go and there's leaked raws :p
Because of the Chinese title
Love Cuisine's Chinese title - 料理高校生
Swimming Battle's Chinese title - 飛魚高校生
Notice the similarities? "高校生" (means high school)
The theme is similar in a sense they're romance mixed in with high school story with the leads as teacher/mentor to the high schoolers. Love Cuisine is a mixed of high school students+cooking, while Swimming Battle is a mix of high school students + swimming. SETTV probably wants to launch a series of high school dramas and will probably release more high school themed series in the future to promote rookie actress/actors playing as high-schoolers.
I think the last 20-30 episodes have been great. I especially appreciate how they tackle lesbian as a topic. It started out a bit boring but got better towards the end. I'm still around 10ep behind but I'm liking it enough to put it in my top 3 Taiwanese daily drama list, it's a bit like Fabulous 30, started out slow but keeps on improving towards the end. The main couple didn't really grab me in the beginning, instead it was the lesbian couple that got me keep on watching but up till ep67 now, I'm just loving every couple, they're so enjoyable and easygoing. I admit that I didn't really like the first 30-40ep, it's a bit dull and I had to FF a lot of scenes but later episodes have been grabbing my attention, the dialogues about the struggles of the lesbian couple especially felt realistic.
Reviews among chinese viewers have been greatly positive (for later episodes). However, I realize that international audience may not share the same sentiments. Same like Fabulous 30, it's very well-received in Taiwan, but so-so among international audience, probably difference in culture? They usually watch it daily and even tiny bits of interactions feel slice-of-life and enjoyable to them but international fans think it's boring bits :p
I don't think so, Yan Ze's stepdad (Yong Qing's biological father) is still alive and his mom is still alive, they're just not shown in the drama (yet).
i'm watching this on hulu, where there are only 12 eps up. i'm on ep 10 and thought there were only 12, which…
You should really stick with it. I thought ep12 was the climax and ep13 was funny, ep14 is satisfying with all the plot developments going on, with enough comedy to fill in. Their chemistry did get better. I think recent episodes have been a lot of fun. But it's really up to you :p
Ep11 rating went up to 2.85 (from 1.97 last week), probably due to the typhoon in Taiwan as a lot of people choose to stay indoor. We probably have to see how will the rating fare next week, anything above 2 is considered very good for the recent years. I'm guessing it'll drop since the typhoon is gone but I'm hoping it doesn't drop too much.
But anyways, it's already the highest rated weekly Taiwanese idol drama for 2015 and probably for the past 2 years as of now. WISYA's previous highest record was 2.45 (ep6) so they once again broke their own highest record.
i didn't really like andrea chen after in time with you but i might give this a shot for jasper; maybe she won't…
Andrea Chen's role was annoying but I actually think she had every right to do that in ITWY since no matter what, she's the "official" girlfriend and the words she spoke angrily to the heroine in the last few episodes may sound harsh, but they're the truth. The heroine of ITWY can be frustrating at times to me :p
it feels like oh my ghost except it's guys this time
This finished filming before Oh My Ghost though, it started filming end of last year and completed filming february this year. Anyways, a story about the friendship of a ghost and a human is pretty common. Such as 49 days, tw-drama Love cheque charge, etc.. I guess it all depends on the execution
As expected You Qian = Yi Zhi Mei not revealed again...from the preview, the superior is really An Xi's Mum! XD
I really don't think whether unibrow is revealed or not matters that much as of now since they're happily together and YQ told AX that he'll tell her everything one day. AX also knows that he's from Pu Lang village.

The classic Chang Yu Sheng (aka Tom Chang) song that this story is inspired from - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0BXZvcI5IQ (Take Me To The Moon)
