Go watch more dramas, widen your view and you'll understand what's depth and his performance lacking if you're removing your "fan-filtered" glasses. Lacking doesn't mean horrible, just means there's room for improvement.

Actors with depth that I can think of - Joy of Life's Zhang Ruo Yun, Zhang Xin Cheng in Go Ahead, Bai Yu, Zhang Wan Yi in The Bond. Watch and you'll feel the difference. All these actors won some acting award.

When I watched only a few dramas, I used to think Meteor Garden Taiwan version had pretty decent acting, but now if I look back, I'll cringe totally. It just means that the more dramas you watch, the more you see what's good or just ok only or what's bad.

Although I don't agree on how cnetizens are shitting on him and WCR. But it's also not right to assume that constructive criticism = hating/toxic.

I do like YY in Love o2o and King's Avatar as he suits those characters and his acting level suits those type of chars as well, but I did feel he's lacking in YAMG when compared to Dilreba where she showed more layered performance of loving the male lead.

But to each of our own. I'm sure he worked hard for this work, but so are other actors but what regular drama viewers see is just the outcome, not the process.

Wei Da Xun doesn't have a strong fanbase to be honest, all those hyping and defending him are drama viewers, netizens and not his fans. He's been in multiple dramas but he's more usually in variety shows. So this unexpected "BOOM" was definitely a surprise to all, including himself I guess, even though his character is not even 2nd male lead. The audience at first were ehhh about WDX acting as such a character as they're too used to his variety persona, but he proved them wrong with his acting.

His character is 3-dimensional and has tension despite all the questionability of morals, which I agree. But his acting is good, there's a lot of details hence netizens love him. The drama review weibos I follow praised his scenes before the drama got popular or the hate bandwagon on Yang Yang happens without any hashtags so it's not marketing, just word-of-mouth and fan-edited MVs boomed. Then marketing started became strong as everyone tagged on this wave.

If you talk about "character" Male lead is much of a positive character, and WDX got the worse character as he's pining for his foster-sis and is sort of like a villain, but I think imperfect characters with good acting are interesting.

I certainly think this situation is unfortunate and not deserving, but YY acting lacks depth and it just gives haters the reason to focus on those again and again. Not saying this situation is right..

Handsome face for sure and I love his previous dramas although I find his acting acceptable for those characters, eg Love o2o and king's avatar as he suits cool, suave 男神 characters. But when it's more slice-of-life, acting needs more depth and he gotta work more on that.

International fans is on another sphere because mostly I'm pretty sure knows who Yang Yang is and are unfamiliar with WDX. So will be more on YY side.

I'm not a fan of either actors, I just watch whatever that interest me. If you see my old tweet I also praised YY for his improvement in King's avatar. Just speaking as a drama viewer who's following the situation.

I can feel the passionate love of author for Zhou Shen. I love his OSTs!! Recent favorite has to be 生活总该迎着光亮 from the Bond. But I truly love him as a 路人粉 in variety shows, he's sooo cute lols.

I think pretty much halfway they already start to express fondness for each other, 10+ep. No breakups, but love triangle is quite obvious, there is, but not much angst and resolved quite quickly.

I finished the drama via raw of iqiyi c-ver since they released 24ep.
Went in with 0 expectations as I don't really know anyone except Hao Fu Shen from Hikaru no Go and realized heroine is from Perfect & Casual, but surprisingly quite fun. Romance is cute, friendship and bromance are pretty well-written too. No major angst, all resolved pretty quickly. The esports part is quite fun to watch and easy to follow imo. Lighthearted watch, most decent 2022 rom-com cdrama so far for me .

Out of Jasper cdramas this year, I feel this is probably the show easiest to digest for me so far. Not overly sweet, also flawed and grounded characters, no dubbing, and both lead acting are pretty natural. Yes, there's many bugs/imperfections but it really did not affect my watching experience much because I do find the lead characters endearing despite their imperfection.

I actually appreciate that heroine is flawed, she's just a regular student who wishes to graduate earlier to earn money to support her family and have no big aspirations, whatsoever. She also learns and grows from her mistakes (eg: taking her work lightly).

The male lead do annoy me with his hide-and-seek honestly and he has many other flaws - eg low EQ. But I don't see what's wrong about him pointing out valid mistakes that heroine did as her senior. If this were another student, he'll probably do the same. No matter what circumstance, one is ought to not take lightly of her/his own work as wrong data could potentially ruin an experiment, it's the effort of many people.

He's jealous of himself and he usually always joins in the "hate Yang Lan Hang" bandwagon when she rants about his real self, but he doesn't become angry when she rants about his real self.

He only became angry at her because she didn't take the experiments seriously and leave halfway, trying to cut some slack, as a scientist that takes pride in his work, he's totally annoyed which is understandable because it clashes with his own values? Then on top of that, he saw her messages blaming her senior Yang Lan Hang who pointed out her fault in her work, which added oil to the fire. He's not angry at her rant, he's angry at how she's not taking her work seriously. If this were another student with this same attitude, he would be angry and want him/her booted out of the team doesn't he?

So because she's heroine, he ought to cut her some slack? What makes her special? Her circumstance? He also often stay back to clean up her mess when she works as a cleaner so she can keep the job, what's not understanding? We're just talking from student/senior/junior perspective. You can be busy in life and have no privilege but that doesn't mean you should take your work so easily and potentially ruin an experiment, dragging others down?

I mean I totally understand where heroine is coming from, she's just a normal student that wants to graduate and earn money to support her family without any great aspiration, she just want to survive so she doesn't take the job seriously at first.

However, we see growth from heroine too, BLL understanding to take pride in her work no matter what circumstances because all these experiments might someday help someone, even if it's not going to be her grandma.

Can't we not blame at a person who's pointing out faults as a matter of fact, and labelling them as arrogant and condescending? Can we focus on the "matter of fact" that she indeed did wrong and she's willing to learn from the mistakes?

How is pointing out a fault a rude approach though? He was invited by the lecturers to be a guest during her presentation. He even said that he didn't meant it that way by apologizing to her. This story has bugs but I don't think what he did is wrong in ep1.

Emmm... except that he pointed out the wrong data correctly, he's doing his duty as a scientist? Even she herself admitted that she put the wrong data in later part.

Maybe because I marathoned the series so I didn't feel too much about the angst portion as it's only a few episodes and overall pacing, story feels good. I love the motivational aspect of the drama. Whether it's romance or career portion are all pretty well written. Loving the Horai siblings and growth in Nami's character at the end of the series. It's pretty nice.

It's an episodic format with 8 part stories, so probably people won't understand why isn't there much scenes in the first 2 episodes for the two leads (Only 10~20min for the first 2ep?). As they had to use the first story to move the story forward.

Summary: ML have to collect "spirit's substance" in order to awaken the heroine who is asleep for 10 years after a big fight years ago. After the first spirit story, he finally completed the collection of spirit's substance and awaken the heroine. He's a stone spirit that's brought up by heroine and have a one-sided love towards her. He's cold, as mentioned by heroine that he still cant smile but towards heroine, he's gentle and warm and a bit possessive obsessive. Hence there's a "confinement" trope in this story where he confined the heroine in order for her to not get hurt. He's not exactly a good or bad person, just that he does everything for the heroine.

The scenes between ML and Lian Xuan the demon hunter is especially funny, super lively. I feel this is considered pretty good among Tangren production in recent years. Well, the CG effect for the first fish spirit story is really funny, LOLS but other effects are pretty good imo.

Jasper also did well, ML character isn't exactly expressive, and supposed to be so but his eye gaze follows the heroine and emotes through his eyes, the hurt feelings when he heard about heroine accusations against him in ep6, the light smile in his eyes when he saw heroine being happy for getting new clothes.

Nazha c-fans think that this is much better than her previous drama. It's actually surprisingly decent as most people don't have high hopes for Tangren production.

Honestly after 3ep, the story got better and ep5 to 6 is good. To those who only saw ep1 or didn't even watch yet but trash on the show, oh wells.

This drama IS NOT A REMAKE OF DOTS. Totally different story. It's based on a c-novel that came out WAY BEFORE DOTS aired. Aside from the leads' profession, there's really nothing similar.

No, it's confirmed to air in 2020 December, by Wang Yan Lin's company promotion materials. Probably mid to end December. Many TV shows that are mentioned in 2021 tencent news don't actually mean that it starts airing in 2021, but it means it's still airing in 2021. So most of the time, 2020 December shows are also placed part of 2021 shows.
