Agreed. I've seen comments scattered around from people that are put off by this drama's sense of humor, they…
Plant Goddess writer is also the one who written In A Good Way, but this show kinda falters towards the last half (although it's a joint effort by multiple writers and SETTV might have interfered to stretch the story for rating)... but still the writers of Iqiyi taiwan shows seem quite decent so far.
The story was never intended to be BL as it's just a slice-of-life story about the people who come to hero's "problem…
Agree on the part where the main website uses Ding Liang as clickbait. I still love them though, they're one of the main highlights of the show imo. Anyways, the story is still nice.
What's up with this low score? The writing for this drama is really warm and cozy, very slice-of-life and I love the people in this show. They all are unique in different ways. Iqiyi taiwan has been pre-producing solid shows - this show and Lego's meet me @ 1006. Can't wait for Jasper and Annie's plant goddess as well, which will follow after Befriend.
The story was never intended to be BL as it's just a slice-of-life story about the people who come to hero's "problem solving" store. It's quite obvious he likes the heroine from the get-go. So really not sure why are people thinking there's a chance this would go BL ending. I love Zhang Liang and Ding Ding bromance but I never thought they'll get together because ZL is straight obviously. But I really love the BL underhint even though I'm hardly a fan of BL stories.
The main plot of this drama is never a BL story, trailers has shown that the loveline is between Yao Yao and Tsao You Ning. But maybe Tsao's childhood friend (played by Wang) might have special feelings for him (not sure whether it's just pure friendship or more than that), if it's more than that then there might be a BL underhint. Although the main plot is really about the kindhearted hero that helps people around him.
Ugh the one playing Ji Rou is really a bad actress. But besides her I'm loving the drama so far. The OTP is so…
I think her accent is pretty bugging for those who understands Mandarin. The only issue I have from her. Her accent used to be worse in The Pursuit of Happiness but I think acting wise, she've improved. It's just the accent and the way she speaks kinda bugs me.
I definitely enjoyed Season 2 much more than Season 1. I find Season 1 pretty mediocre, was surprised at the high rating and the announcement of season 2 at that time. But Season 2 is a great comeback, the cases are much more entertaining and the theme they focus this season is much deeper than Season 1, digging deeper into the corrupted justice system as the balance is broken, shifting towards the prosecution team. Like that they showed different types of judges.
It might be hard for this to be subbed because of the sensitivity of the issue honestly. Because it's a pro-chinese drama, I don't think it's 100% historically accurate (probably altered to fit China's perspective since this is a 100% c-produce drama).
However, if you totally watch it as a drama standalone, the production is intricate and the cinematography is lovely. Up to ep7 (TV version) now and I'll say I give this 8/10 so far. Very very decent. The bromance between the 3 guys is funny and cute. The atmosphere is very earnest, down-to-earth and kinda reminds me of the beginning period of Battle of Changsha because of the slice-of-life aspects. It's more like a coming-to-age drama under the influence and brutality of war imo.
Plus!! They use the Taiwanese cast real voice, no dubbing. Dubbing is only done for the c-cast so they have a more "taiwanese" accent. There's many effort put into the music, cinematography and dubbing part imo.
For the cast acting, I would say they're all pretty natural. Jasper's enunciation improved a lot (also he got tanned a lot, lols), Bryan's character is funny and one of the comedic element in this drama, his acting is very lively and Hou Yan Xi is very good too. But in ep7, I was impressed by the acting of taiwanese actor who plays as Lin Qing Wen (Jasper Liu)'s dad. (He's also the dad in tw-drama Back to 1989 and dads in many other tw-dramas).
I've been livestreaming the drama every night and I would say not much "fast forward" is needed, the pacing have been just nice imo. I like it so far.
The pacing is pretty good, it's getting me quite invested lately, very easy to watch. The latest ep rating hit 1!! Starting from a rating of 0.57 to hitting 1, for a non-SETTV idol drama, that's quite a good feat. On the other hand SETTV is on downfall for the past 2 years. Sigh. Although I do like their 2 currently airing idol dramas.
