OMG I can't believe that I have to torture myself and wait for a couple of days for the next episode. Watched…
Rating is up to standard of that timeslot in TTV, as it's not on TTV Sunday (prime time), nor from popular station like SETTV, plus the theme isn't something that you'll watch with your whole family (lols). But the clicks views on internet is super duper high, highest among currently airing tw-dramas, discussion has been coming like a wave.
Also, although it's not on China's online platform, its super topic on weibo is #5 for tvdramas, and Jasper's fans have been increasing like a super rapid train lately. Most have noted his tremendous improvement in acting, praising his performance as Chu Kehuan. It's been generating lots of buzz in China and Taiwan, which is quite a rare feat since most tw-dramas become unknown in China due to lack of popularity/lack of legal online platform , etc...
Che Kehuan gives off serious creeper vibes in the first episode. The leads' chemistry is very strong, but I wasn't…
The director told Jasper to imagine himself like a hooligan to get in the role because Chu Kehuan is dangerously aggressive, asshole without putting a pretense, which is 180 degrees different from Jasper himself.
Honestly those manhandling are triggers for people but I also find it funny that Jasper earned lots of fans because of this role lately and the drama is generating buzz in Taiwan and in China, I guess these typical jerk-guy tropes still exist for a reason.
This drama earned 7.9 (bordering to 8 because more reviews are coming in) rating on douban (sort of like china's imdb site which is notoriously difficult to get high score, anything above 7 is considered good), it also generated lots of discussion and buzz in tw-forums, becoming more and more popular, a bit of mania level in China's weibo and in Taiwan.
I'm just glad that people are not skipping this because of how twisted the leads are (or actually it's just the twisted hero who treats everything like a game imo). He's a jerk and he knows it, he doesn't hide it and is not ashamed of himself. I'm just fascinated by anti-hero like him (definitely not condoning his actions). The first ep is fast-paced and intensely dramatic. No wonder so many people got addicted and groan why is it only 1 ep per week. I'm in that bandwagon.
I also have to say I had my reservations about Jasper playing the bad guy but his acting has really improved over the years and frankly, I'm quite impressed. First, he had his biggest break because of movie More Than Blue late last year and then this drama is becoming a hit too. He picks interesting projects and vastly different roles nowadays. I'm also excited for his upcoming Netflix drama with Eugenie Liu. Hoping that his previous drama, My Goddess gets picked by English subs community because it's also a good healing drama..
I watched the first ep, it seemed to have potential. JL and PK really have chemistry. Question... for some of…
The ending in novel had them break up with their respective partners and also broke up relationship with each other but then they meet again in a few years later but no mention whether they'll get back together or not. It's an open ending.
The drama fleshed out characters a lot as original novel is pretty short and everything is written in first person perspective - heroine's perspective, hardly talk about inner feelings of the male lead or other characters. Think drama remake is really good so far, they made some alterations, but most of it stayed true to the novel.
The production conference news has already said that this drama will challenge moral boundaries, it's gonna be…
I'm actually excited for this story. I don't think cheating in fiction is necessarily bad, because it's actually reality, shit happens and also I'm curious to see the process of why it happens, the struggles and complex relationship. Besides, the drama has never been shy to talk about the characters are in the wrong. They're not trying to "beautify" or glorify the whole process.
Not everything has to be perfect and 1-dimensional like usual rom-coms. It definitely has more room for the cast' acting performance. It challenges people's comfort zone and moral boundaries.
The 10min preview on Youtube has many people excited for this, different from usual sugary-candy-perfect rom-com idol dramas. Imperfect characters don't necessarily mean it's a bad drama, anti-hero and heroine doesn't equal to a bad drama. Reminds me of how high quality another cheating Japanese drama is - Hirugao - https://kisskh.at/10447-hirugao
But if you guys are super sensitive to cheating in fiction, then just skip, hence my suggestion, although I really think it's a shame to skip this. Understand people has different views and level of comfort with risky themes like this.
I love the main cast, but I don't watch cheating dramas. I think I'll check back later to see if it's as immoral…
The production conference news has already said that this drama will challenge moral boundaries, it's gonna be realistic as all the characters are flawed with some steamy scenes, dubbed as the dark romance drama. The original novel explores the theme of whether it's best to choose someone that's suitable for you or someone that you love and the hero is totally not sorry about cheating. So I'll suggest you can skip it.
WTF are you talking about? This is tw-drama and there's so many BL dramas in Taiwan. Totally different culture…
There's some thing as "reading information", it's listed as Taiwan drama and please just comment on dramas you watched or know. It's honestly quite offending saying a drama as "trying hard to impress" when you don't even know what's this drama about or watched it before.
Binged watched the show in 2-3days since iqiyi vip members gets to watch all 24ep at one go. Love that they emphasize on the farming aspects and all the songs are so nice. The villagers are cute, it's such a warm story, every characters is interesting. Although I think the editing of the first 2 ep is a bit choppy but it really got better. The village scenes are interesting. In terms of English subs, Iqiyi taiwan production previously were bought by Dramafever but since DF is now offline, I guess there won't be Eng subs unless Viki buy the license.
Netflix page - https://www.netflix.com/title/81019391 Coming in 2019. The production haven't started, Jasper is still filming with Puff which will last until end of December, so probably this show will start filming early next year?
Is this a Modern Farmer remake? I was not a fan of that show.
Totally different, not related at all. The heroine of this show is an ex-lawyer. Not a rock band too because the hero is a music producer. The only singer of this show is 2nd female lead, which is hero's ex-girlfriend and also heroine's ex-bestfriend.
9 is really too high, it does have the addictive flavour because of heroine constantly defeating those who scheme against her but the plot is actually not much of depth imo, probably worth a 7.5 to 8 the max. Douban's score of 7.1 is more like it.
Love Jasper and despite how morally wrong the story sounds, I'm excited to see him in this role to showcase his acting chops as the bad guy. Both leads will fall in love and betray their fiancee/fiance. The story challenges moral code so the tone is going to be heavy and pragmatic. I think this is the main reason they pick this drama to collaborate again, not the typical rainbows & fairy idol tw rom-com dramas.
Watching this for Jasper, despite his hairstyle, hahaha. It's also interesting that it was rumoured back a few years ago that Jasper's drama "Pleasantly Surprised/Love Myself Or You" heroine was supposed to be Annie Chen but she left SETTV hence Puff took the role. Also, before this drama, they just wrapped up filming for a movie "More Than Blue" (which stars Ivy Chen and Jasper, and Annie as the 2nd lead). Jasper also worked with Nana Lee in Lost Me Too Chloe as a couple (although it seems Jasper is more like the 2nd lead), it's strange that Nana becomes 2nd lead here, but I guess 3 of them take turns in taking interesting chars, whether 1st or 2nd leads. Taiwan entertainment has a small circle. English subs license should be with Dramafever as past Iqiyi Taiwan's dramas are all on DF.
Agreed. I've seen comments scattered around from people that are put off by this drama's sense of humor, they…
HAHAHAHA! Subway is everywhere for sure. I wonder whether they'll shove it in Plant Goddess as well since most of the scenes would be in the village, unless they do delivery to the village, hahahaha!
