that was a much happier ending than I was expecting! glad I finished it, it was a great series and a good introduction to Thai political history of the 70s.
I wish we'd gotten some update on what naran was up to, and for a split second I thought the two old guys were kailert and naran 😅

yeah, it's been good so far, though I'm not a fan of shows featuring politicians these days. So far they've done a reasonable job of balancing the heavier aspects with some light scenes. I liked some of the discussions they had the second ep.

I don't really know the production company going in so I didn't have any expectations about budget and production quality, and I thought it was ok actually. I don't love political plots or those about societal issues, mostly bc I can't stand politicians, but so far I'm reasonably engaged. It reminds me of Laws of Attraction, not sure why, maybe the concept of the political aide doing shady things for good? Anyhow, nothing wrong with giving your opinion! that's the point of the comments section😊

shine is an exception in maybe ways, best not to have those expectations going into any show 😊

still enjoying the show, the main couple remains a lovely and warm watch, I recommend watching the show just for them.
I'm really not a fan of the second couple, the pacing of their storyline feels like it's a different show, with every week a new problem to resolve. This week's problem really got my goat, and for once it wasn't immediately resolved by the end of the episode.

yeah, agreed, a traditional HE in this story would not be satisfying. Duan lost his mind in one episode, and shown himself to be a bloodthirsty petty tyrant. he doesn't really suit what we know about shuhe anymore, tbh, I would not be surprised if his brother or his generals took him out. not sure if even blame them, it feels like he's falling into the same trap Shuhes brother did

I don't think they should have a happy ending tbh, emperor guy is obsessed and crazy AF and I'd be getting a restraining order and sleeping with a bat if I had a guy like him anywhere in my life 😂

I am struggling too...I loved last twilight, and they have great chemistry, but this one feels less interesting to me despite the distant murder plot and astrology/psychic powers...

I like the actors, but I agree the second couple is weirdly written. I liked them when I thought they were going to do something interesting with them around fluke's character's family commitment issues, but it then appeared to have been resolved really quickly, and now the preview looks like it might yoyo back to conflict. Cycling between happy and conflict, over and over just felt more pronounced this eps...🤷🏽

💯 agree, I was genuinely moved by the confession scene, and I'd have melted for Hill too if he'd said something like that to me too.
the volleyball scene was kinda funny to me, but the bit I found the most cringe was the ex's public confession. I'd have been mortified to witness that, let alone experience it 😅

I'm enjoying this one actually, I'm surprised about the current score of 7.1. Are people scoring it based on the subs? Junji is a little stiff and robotic sometimes, but I'm not sure if that's meant to be his character or bc it's not the actor's first language, but everyone is doing a reasonable job in their roles. I like that Hill isn't portrayed as some tropey creepy fanboy lusting after Yuka, and genuinely seems like an actual nice guy.The side ship is also fun to watch so far, but I've always liked Fluke

I hope so! I've seen so many shows that preach tolerance of abusive family for the sake of family, that I'm instinctively wary

this is a funny kind of show. For me, the most authentic and realistic scenes are not the relationship between the two leads (their romance leaves me cold) but the scenes between the mother and son and now between Father and son.
It feels like whoever wrote this understood toxic parent-child relationships a lot more than they do adult romantic relationships

that's a very generous interpretation, and most probably what the show is going to move towards in the next episode (based on the preview), but I couldn't help but cheer when he told his Dad he wasn't going back to the house. In real life, fathers like this are so damaging that they really should be left behind

uhmm, it was ok...I didn't watch the trailer so not quite what I was expecting, but def more camp then I was expecting, which I don't mind. It's the first episode so too early to judge
