It is like you’re reading my mind. I couldn’t agree more. The drama was so cringy and unrealistic. There was…
Exactly!

You're very welcome. And you know what ? Imma gonna rewatch it right now ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

I think everybody has a different sensitivity regarding chemistry. I'm glad someone is enjoying it cos I wanted to enjoy it too ... but just couldn't. So have fun ^_^
ps: if you're looking for good chemistry, I'd recommend Fated To Love You. It can sometimes get too intense but, months after seeing the drama and 50+ dramas after, I can still feel the spark between the leads.

Yes I somehow agree, Seung Hee lacked tolerance for it. But the ML also need not to mention about it on a place…
AND he did all of it on her father's funeral day. I mean ...

Update. I'm now at ep27 and ... I don't see it. Don't get me wrong, I truly enjoy the show and can see lots of qualities. But I'm not seeing anything more special than in any other great drama. I started this show because I had NEVER seen so much enthusiasm for a drama, ever. It was insane reading all the comments saying all the best things about the show and how it deeply changed them. It seemed like magic. I'm kind of disappointed not being in love as much as everybody else haha

Title Tempted
Give this show a try.

The 2 pinned reviews above made this drama seem so bad that I never really wanted to watch the show. But it's ... REALLY not that bad. I actually truly LOVED the episodes.
I had no expectation coming in and I was more than agreeably surprised. It was a fun thrilling ride for me. I was in a bit of slump the last few weeks where I would drop every drama I started, even though they were good. But I binge-watched The Great Seducer/Tempted in one day ! I couldn't wait between the episodes. Now, yes, there are problems with writing and sometimes the FL's acting. But honestly, those mistakes are NOT DESERVING the reviews and ratings this drama got, especially compared to well-rated shows who have worst writing.
So if you're looking for a romance filled with intensity and heart-fluttering moments, look no further. Give a try.

Dropped this, couldn't stand it anymore even though there's only 10 ep of 15min each. I can forgive many stupid things in dramas but this show is just too stupid.
On Love in the Moonlight May 6, 2020
Having a really hard time finishing this drama, skipping every scene except the ones with the two second leads (Yoon Sung and Byung Yeon). There's no chemistry between the leads, the romance is lacking depth and tension. Then you would think the rest of the plot would be better ? But no, the political conspiracy is boring and ridiculous. It is really too bad because the firsts episodes were quite good.

Title Boys over Flowers: Final Spoiler
Ok ... I'm so confused with Hanazawa Rui's ending. Can someone explain ? hahaI'll be asking my question in the…
1- Did he really become a priest ?

2- What did he mouth while looking at the wedding picture ?

3- What's the meaning around Rui telling at the wedding "I was thinking of what to do when you leave everything to me" ? I do remember Domyoji telling Rui he'll leave everything to him if something happens. But I really don't understand Domyoji Tsukasa et Rui's exchange. They seemed to have an understanding but I have no idea what it is. Domyoji laughed and Makito was as confused as I am.

There's a love triangle (is it a good or bad thing for you ?). There's a secondary couple, but they barely appear…
Well, you won't like this love triangle then :p I have yet to see a drama where the SL ends up with the first lead.

I'm new to K-dramas, I've only started watching them 6 months ago, although I watched 50+ shows since then, from various years. I am myself in a k-drama slump, having no idea how to get out of it (--- weeeeell, I could watch less dramas. If my calculations are correct, I watched an average of 42,9 hours /week, 6h/day, equivalent to a full time job. Definitely not a healthy way to consume any entertainment content).

I kinda agree with your article, the feels are not the same (I mean, can we talk about Fated To Love You ? - swoons -). BUT, in the last few years, there's something changing that is really much appreciated in the romance genre : respect towards the female lead.

I have to admit that, although I really like "older" dramas, the male leads were often borderline abusive with the FLs. But there were always enough swoon-worthy moments, enough intense emotional passion between the leads to make us forget and accept the abusive behavior. Cos, let's be honest, few of us would actually gladly accept a man treating us that way (wrist grabbing, excessive jealousy, controlling of the FL social circle, forced kiss/hug, forbidding having male friends, bullying, emotional threatening, sexual and psychological harassment, forbidding/allowing certain clothes and the list goes on ...). Yes it is another culture, yes South Korea is still a largely patriarchal society, but if you look at korean rom-com movies, they predominantly do not portray the same abusive behavior.

So where am I going with this topic when the article only asked if the romance was dead ? Well, I've been asking myself if there was a correlation between the fact that recent dramas were slowly getting rid of those violent tropes and the fact that we, the viewers, were feeling a bit bored and disinterested with romance dramas. Maybe is it that, while getting rid of those violent patterns, the writers and directors haven't quite figure out how to portray the couples as passionate and as intense ? Maybe are we too accustomed to seeing controlling and macho men ? Maybe is it just a guilty pleasure ? I really do not have the answer.
