Hmm... I can't think of any at the top of my head that's similar to this and that I've enjoyed. I know other commenters…
I think that Xu Bin himself does a good job at emoting the suppressed emotions to really get us. I feel like the Chinese actor Cheng Yi also does a good job at expressing this as well. He plays a cold male lead in both Love and Redemption and Stand By Me. Both are Xianxia/historical and a bit more lengthy and definitely not lighthearted. I feel like there's not too many dramas lately that has such a naïve female lead as how we saw with Mai Feng Cao though. However, for cold male lead and bright female lead type of dramas, if you haven't seen these, I think they did a decent job at capturing that trope-not not the same vibe as My Star Bride: - A Love So Beautiful - youth drama and similar to It Started With a Kiss - Go Go Squid - esports but imo, the first chunk of episodes may be hard to get through
I haven't seen these but I plan to watch them soon and they might have what you're looking for: - Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo - Crush
I feel bad with not giving you a more concrete list. I'll msg you if and when I do find one where it has that kind of trope and I found that it was good.
Hmm... I can't think of any at the top of my head that's similar to this and that I've enjoyed. I know other commenters mentioned Golden Bride, an older K-drama that has similar storyline. Though I'm not sure if you're up for it as it's longer and an oldie. Are there certain elements that you liked about My Star Bride? Maybe I can suggest a few based on that instead?
Right? SF9 continues to get popular individually but their music never charts well. Even with their latest comeback…
Wow, I love this so much! I got lost for a good 30 minutes or so on it xD. I love the little insights on the songs I've been listening to and all the features it has and it will be used so I can listen to some new stuff doing work! So glad I have a spotify to connect it to and thank you so much for sharing!
Unfortunately, the spotify playlist that you shared doesn't open. Though, I'll do some digging on my own. Vietnamese music never popped on my radar before you mentioned it.

K-rnb, k-hip pop and even k-indie are fun genres to dive into. I get blown away every time. Oh, that site sounds quite fun. I click random playlists on Spotify all the time to find new music. Carrie Underwood is great! I don't listen to much country anymore but if I do, I want want to explore oldies - which I guess applies to any genre/country. I don't know much about classic artists and songs. I don't think I've jumped into Vietnamese though. Any good recs on that?

I listen to other a lot of other genres as well. Country was a big one that made me venture into folk and eventually more indie. Whereas I grew up listening to hip pop that veered into rnb and then more alternative pop. But on that long note, I guess I enjoy pop the most? At least that's how spotify categorizes it and how my yearly round up looks like. I never really understand genres and how they're categorized. For example, I enjoy Sasha Sloan and she's considered indie-pop. If I'm not wrong, pop is just a style and not a sound? As for Mando-pop it's more of artists like Eric Chou and Mao Buyi and I believe they're under pop as well.
I feel like I have weird phases. EDM and techno was one where I didn't think I'd get into and I did for a bit.
What are some other genres that you've tried and liked?
Right? SF9 continues to get popular individually but their music never charts well. Even with their latest comeback…
I've heard of all those except for Junny, Jiselle, and Cacophony. I'll definitely check those three out. I'm actively on the lookout for new artists as well. I've hopped and had some phases in western pop and indie-pop. Then dabbled a bit into Norwegian and reggaetón. I had a small phase with J-rock and Thai. I don't watch many Bolloywood movies but I love listening to the music. I'm currently exploring Mando-pop.

Unfortunately, I feel like the only way they'll get recognition as a group is from the charts - obviously it'll be from the support of their fans that get them there. But without charting high, the company isn't going to push for more group work and they'll just continue to do individual activities.
I try to keep my eyes and ears out for all groups and their new releases and casually listen to most groups. I become a bit more active in following live shows/clips/interviews when it comes to 2nd gen group's comebacks. I think one of the few "recent groups" that I follow more closely is A.C.E. I used to watch a lot of Korean variety shows, which was a great way in finding new groups but because I don't anymore, I feel like that also impacts how much I listen to kpop as well. On the flip side of pop groups, I follow Ha Hyunsang and Gaho quite often.
This was so well done👏🏽👏🏽 I love that groups like sf9 and onewe were mentioned because I think they're…

Onewe and Oneus are both underrated. In terms of Onewe, I once read a comment on how they're not popular because they haven't found their style yet. I don't follow them closely but I do think that this kind of rings true. They try out different styles every time and its not bad but it may not stick with casual listeners who comes by and hears a variety in one disc. I'm just biased to the group because I think they bring a unique flavor of band meets pop with influences of from cya.
Haha...I honestly forgot I even wrote it XD....I thought it will never get published...I was so upset...because…
Aww that is quite a bummer as it's always best to relish in the feelings of a drama during and right after it gets released. Though it seems like your article did resonate well with a lot of those who commented (like me), so don't feel too discouraged :)
Apparently, I have too much time on my hands as I've heard of all of these except for Blossoms Shanghai. I think I remember hearing him finally making a drama comeback but didn't know that the trailer was already out. Have to be honest and say that I have not watched anything recent from HuGe. Though I guess he has been absent from dramas for a bit and I don't watch too many Chinese movies. But thanks for hyping me up even more for these upcoming shows :)
Fan Qiang says, "maybe there's a girl among them" Now I'm curious if we'll get a girl ver of Li Qian. But the little details in this show so far are quite interesting. You really have to take your time and digest all the little information. I didn't and after reading a post on ep 1, it blew my mind. I love how this is shot despite the limited sets and moving area that it has. Love it so far and I can't wait till next week!
If anyone wants to watch this short drama, the 1st episode has eng hard subs on the official streaming site XD [at least I believe it's the official streaming site]
I also watched the 2019 and completely loved it. After hearing about the 2021 remake I had high expectations about…
I'm happy you read my lengthy rant of a review XD I tried starting the book, but I don't think I got far, maybe the first few chapters. Some of the actual scenes are more accurate to the 2021 ver; however, I never got far into it to see if their backstory/history was explained better in the book.
I agree that the storyline made more sense in the 2019 version. At least to me, it made more sense as to why Luo Zhi would be so upset with Sheng Huai Nan. 2021 version pretty much built a whole new story for them and allowed them to get to know each other better but didn't expand it and still rode on the past minor misunderstandings that prolong throughout the show.
I'm excited to see the movie version, though. Hopefully, it'll be available online sometime this year! Curious as to how much or little change there will be
Ah I recently watched Thara Himalai and Kim did great for her debut, I liked her chemistry with Aum but it felt…
You can definitely catch on that Thara Himalai was Kim's debut role as a lead. She definitely improved over time. I actually don't mind actors/actresses being type casted if they do it well and in this case, Kim does it well but it just gets tiring when it's consistent. I watched Ab Ruk Online but unintentionally skipped over Panyachon Kon Krua. I felt like I have watched their interviews for that show though.
I actually started Song Sanaeha but couldn't keep up with airing dates and it kind of went to the unintentionally dropped pile as well. It seems really dramatic though. I realized I know a lot of dramas because I keep up with airing news but I tend to forget to tune in. Thong EK is definitely one of them and I'll add that one to my list for now.
I think Nadech has good chemistry with a lot of his costars. I enjoyed his works with Taew and Mew. I don't think I actually have seen any of his works with Yaya, despite them being a couple XD
Summer's Desire's Xia Mo was probably the most stoic female lead I've ever come across (it bothered me a bit). Her character goes through so many emotional hardships time and time again but she's so resilient and never falters on herself and her goals. A quote from the 2010 version, "Even if I give out 100% of my effort, I might only get 50% in return. But if I don't put in any effort, I might not even get that 50%."I think she got my respect for her when she said that.
Btw, I love this compilation of these female drama characters and how they've shed some light on you guys. I especially liked that they're not all female leads as well :) I wish I took note of some of my non-female lead side characters throughout my watching experience. I know I enjoyed a good number of them but now I can't think of any XD Thanks for putting this fun article together, I really enjoyed it!
lol at the throwback of Golf and Mike XD I remember back then I had a tough time differentiating them. I honestly don't know a lot of these actors =/ probably because they're younger and I haven't been in the loop with youth-centered Thai dramas. I do have to say that I adore Push and that he's probably one of my favorite Thai actors. I have an acquaintance who met him in Chiang Mai a couple of years ago. I think he was there for a marathon, as he does participate in those. I was quite jealous XD Where were they when I was in Thailand?? Great article as always, Cho Na :)
Flower of Evil must be a favorite of yours since it pops up a number of times XD I did realize that it could be categorized as " Unrealized Love" as well since Hyun Soo doesn't realize his love for her until later on.
