His acting isn't "bad" per say, but he doesn't really even act. They didn't give him much material to work with. In addition, his character is very frustrating to watch, since honestly, he's like... REALLY naive and (please don't hate me but this is true) dumb compared to the other lead.
And as the episodes go by, only one story line is worth watching, and thank god it's imo the better one out of the 2.
Ok but I can't be the only one who noticed right.... THE EVER NIGHT THEME IS IN THERE. The opening of the Ever Night opening song is played, simply with less instruments and more flute-y. I know this drama was delayed on it's release, but can composers really not come up with their own soundtracks?
Once again, no hate against Hu Yi Tian, but if you came here to watch him, then I don't recommend.
Name a couple that you like and have seen. I am legit a walking Chinese drama dictionary with a search filter.
if you want more recommendations, not sure if you've seen all of these: The Dark Lord Legend of Zu The Mystic Nine Tientsin Mystic Once Upon A Time There Was A Spirit Blade Mountain Plough Department of Song Dynasty L.O.R.D Critical World Joy Of Life Young Blood
Most of these recommendations or others I might suggest aren't very romance heavy, since it isn't really my genre.

Holy damn you should probably watch it. Truthfully, it ain't much BL if you ignore most of it. It's honestly just a lot of eye flirting. Other than the flirtation, it's basically a better version of L.O.R.D Critical World (if you've seen that).
It's worth it for Chen Zhe Yuan's characters imo. He's so far carrying the entire series on his back.
Then again don't be too hopeful. Chen Zhe Yuan is the only one actually acting imo, but he might be annoying to some people. If you don't enjoy CZY then you should probably drop it honestly, since it kinda looks like Hu Yi Tian's character won't be... super interesting.
First 4 episodes review: 1. Aye, not too much prologue, we get straight to introducing our 2 main characters and set off their relationship. 2. Z.Tao's acting got better! At least so far, he isn't always so over the top. He still is, but at least those occasions make sense. 3. Jackson Yi is doing wonderful, as always. 4.Music is meh so far imo. 5. Costumes and visuals in general are pre- good. 6. Worth it? Yes. Not a definitive absolutely, but give it a try.
skimmed through 4 episodes and already dislike the show. will give this one amiss.
Continue it for Chen Zhe Yuan. He's carrying the whole series so far on his back. Give it more episodes, it looks like it'll get good, but I would understand why you would drop it.
It's honestly not worth watching. I can give a straight up summary for you if you want. No matter how much I spoil…
So it starts off with the ML killing a guy. You then learn that the 2 main leads live in their local wine shop that the FL runs. ML is desperate to join a sect, because he wants to learn a form of martial arts that'll help him live longer than 20 years (because of how he was born and stuff). He then meets a guy that might help him get into a sect. He passes the guys test, so the guy helps him. He arrives at the sect area, everyone is like "why can he enter the sect without taking the test that everyone has to take". He takes the test, passes it with flying colours. Everyone is impressed, except for one dude who is jealous. ML meets some side characters. You learn that the ML was born from some sort of spider web cocoon thing, has his own form of martial art with spider webs, and is the disciple of the master of some massacred sect. (which the only survivors are the FL and ML). You find out that the 2 leads want to get revenge on the people who massacred that sect. Each time they kill someone, the FL crosses off a lotus flower off a wall filled with lotus flowers representing their enemies (the ones with more power are represented by bigger lotus flower). ML then makes friends a dude, who is the son/prince of his enemy/king who massacred the sect master. During those events, his current sect master gets assassinated by the dude who was jealous of him in his entrance exams, and some female. The ML then hesitates to kill the king. FL gets mad at ML, asking him if he's a coward and stuff. FL is much more riled up about it because she is WAY older than the ML in the story, and therefore has more attachment to the sect master. ML can't make up his mind for the next couple of episodes. Until the end where I don't even know what happened, ML reaches the highest point of cultivation, goes back and declares to the king that he won't murder him. King let's him leave the palace. Pretty sure that the FL dies or something.
idek anymore. recently finished it and most of the ending and show in general just slipped by.
:( I was so excited to watch Li Xian again, but the reviews don't sound promising at all :( :(
The first couple of episodes were great, but then it just dips down and becomes basically unwatchable. I dropped it when it was airing, and only picked it back up and finished it today.
So far I'm loving it amjshdfskjhdfjmshfawyf
(Still gonna say I miss Arthur Chen but hey, he's gonna star in something based off a BL so I'm damn darn excited lmao)

God can't believe it's been a year since the first series released.
