The differences are starting to show from episode 5 and on, so it doesn't completely follow it's origin story, but I like the changes for the live action actually.
First impressions: I'm fairly surprised they followed the original story line so far. Some acting has been cringy, but they aren't from your two main leads, so don't worry, your eye candy will not be ruined :D The costumes have been good, but there are some parts that are bothering from time to time, nothing big or noticeable though unless you're actively searching for it (like me). CGI and Green-screen have just been... there. Nothing good, but it definitely won't ruin the experience of the show. Music is okay, It fits. Most of the track is pretty ordinary, until you get to the tracks with the Guzhen and the Flute (those sound really nice).
Ok so I'm kind of confused on where they are going with the plot. So there were two half-blood brothers born on a cursed meteor. They both got separated and one ended up in the Wahan tribe while the other in Arthdal. Eun Som's quest so far is to get his people back and revenge, while Saya's is revenge and escaping the tower. They both have a love interest towards the same person. They both have a "lust" for blood deep down inside. So are they enemies or are they fighting somewhat on the same side?
Post-Mid season Impressions: *sighs* I mean, it's still good, but the plot is being indefinitely dragged. I've also been seeing myself skip more and more every episode. The first couple episodes were really good, but it seems to have lost its "wow factor" in the latest 12 episodes.
First Impressions (Well, mid seasons impressions since they dropped 12 episodes on us) Plot (Minor Spoilers) The plot is about how a girl one day sees her ex-boyfriend who vanished 5 years ago. But when she goes to approach him, he doesn't recognise her and he seems like a different person. You later find out he lost his memories, and they both encountered a strange green eyed beluga whale 5 years ago. It is a story about their love, their mission to find out what exactly happened 5 years ago and the quest to retrieve lost memories.
The acting is good. Nothing impressive but nothing bad.
Honestly so far, this is a simple, enjoyable watch, which the only complicated thing about it so far is its plot.
It's just that from my experience and from all the dramas I've seen so far, most naive characters are rather weak or become completely broken and vengeful. I do admit, I have a bias for naive characters, especially when they go vengeful, but I also cannot deny that half the time it's not executed properly. Just take a recent c-drama for example, The Legends. Your main lead is actually quite naive, but it seemed he had the perfect setup for a successful character, yet they were able to screw up the last 15-ish episodes due to the characters naive nature. It's simply hard to balance a naive character without using overused tropes. Honestly, I do see why you like them, and I personally have a bias towards them, but I gotta agree with the general public that most of them aren't good characters.
Half season impressions: It's... really good. The cast has done wonderful so far and even in the span as short as 14 episodes you can see progression in acting (especially Bruce He, the actor for Wei Ya Nei). It makes you laugh, yet keeps you on the edge of your seat constantly. The characters all have strong points but are all flawed and seem pretty human (except for your main-lead, who's a bit more overpowered, but it works for him). The fight scenes are choreographed nicely, and it does get serious and bloody even with it's humour (though I do admit, most of the humour in this show is kinda dark), which is a nice balance and constantly triggers your emotions. I don't know how many times I wanted to laugh yet knew that it probably wasn't appropriate in the scenario lmao . --++{I highly recommend}++-- 16/36 episodes have been released by the time I'm writing this.

(But seriously, all jokes aside, there's like a 60% chance that that will happen)
