Spoiler Free Lightning round early review! and... start! 1. m o r e L i x i a n 2. good watch so far. cinematography is nice, so is the acting and plot. 3. I recommend if you like Wuxia levels in between Joy of Life and Ever Night. 4. k I don't think I've expressed this enough but I ACTUALLY LOVE THE SHOW 5. The only thing that's been bothering me a decent amount so far are the costumes. They don't look cheap, and they do look very authentic, but some of them are just unpleasing to the eye IMO. I found myself starring at a costume I had a distaste for and zoning out on it.
Mid Season Spoiler Free Review!: 1. Hmm... plot holes started to appear. They aren't anything major, but they can be so easily solved to the point that it may drive the viewers insane 2. Zhang Ruo Yun is so damn talented. 3. I need more Thomas :( 4. The OST is just so good. I can't skip the opening or the ending. It simply captivates
Overall, it's going on a steady pace, and my interest is still picked! There simply are some weird decisions being executed sometimes, but it doesn't remove from the show unless you have major OCD.
Don't watch it for Xiao Zhan. He barely show up in it. If you're gonna ever watch this, watch it for Leo, or the…
That's fine too. Just saying don't expect much Xiao Zhan~ This was filmed in his earlier days so he wasn't really recognised or very good at acting at that time (of course he's gotten better).
Is it really good? Or did y'all rate this high just because of Xiao Zhan?
I didn't even realise Xiao Zhan was in this. And in my opinion, It's really good. Not flawless, but definitely executed well. If you've ever watched Evernight, this gives off the very similar vibes.
First 10 episodes spoiler free lightning round review! Annnnd.... START! 1. THOMAS IS SO FUCKING PRECIOUS IN THIS HUH (he acts as the "blind" hitman btw) 2. That kid actor for the ML is greeaaat. He did the first episode well. 3. Zhang Ruo Yun absolutely deserves to main lead this. 3. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SERIES SO FAR 4. 100% recommend
Now don't mind me as I start to impatiently wait for the next episodes.
New Update Review, 37 Episodes In! MINOR SPOILERS BE WARNED:
K so I won't say much, but yea, everything was going smoothly... til episode 32.
Huh?! Wait What? Are they trying to diverge or stay accurate to the novels, cause I'm confused now. So now they are writing Hai YunFan novel accurate, but this time a more... idk man. Kinda like a much more hostile version of Hai YunFan. I don't know how to feel about that. I like the original novel version, or this new drama version, but I hate the latest version they made of him. AND THEN THEY TURN HIM BACK INTO THE NORMAL VERSION.. AND THEN THE DARK VERSION? Really DOES NOT make much sense IMO. I don't remember any of this being in the Novel. Seems they've diverged, but surprisingly, I ain't fully against it. I'm just kinda salty that my bby Hai YunFan couldn't be all pure and stuff :< . Also, the ending was good, BUT VERY, VERY RUSHED. It's still a great watch, but to someone who read the novel, I got mixed feelings.
But, if it does get a season 2, I'll for sure watch it.
16 episodes in: It follows the novel pretty well, skipping through certain short arcs, and adding more factors of comedy. But what I don't understand is: Hai Yun Fan. Like did I forget the beginning of the novels? I SWEAR he was not Wang Lu's side man and it was Wen Boa. Not that I'm mad that he's a MC, I in fact fucking love him so much. but what I remember from the novels is that Hai Yun Fan was part of another sect entirely..... Other than the mysterious Hai Yun Fan, everything has been streamline and accurate. I RECOMMEND SO, SO MUCH.

It's basically the first thing you learn when you enter Chinese language school, every year.
Apparently monkey with sticks, dumb monks, the living embodiment of every dad ever and white dragon horses really attract people's attention.
wow omg the orchestra direction was the murderer? no waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
