i'm a drama dropper, i've dropped so many dramas bcs i didn't continue watching them routinely so y'all need to believe me when i say this drama has KEPT my attention even when i miss a few days. its so easy to get hyped back into it again.

the color palette change for xqs's robes are actually making me a bit sad...i miss my pastel baby of the huanhua sect 😭😭😭

i mean if we're just gonna talk abt it logically he could, but when it comes to LSF and by extension SMZ the priority lays on finding his parent's dead bodies. he's not gonna do anything rash until he finds a way or plan on how to prod and claw that information out of them. then there's also the jianghu principles and certain moral codes being upheld that makes up the whole genre and is the core thematic of this show. making XQS kill SMZ right after a sexual assault and basically set up to be literally raped by him, vulnerable kind of defeats the whole point. its not that he can't kill her, its that situation specifically with all those reasons that holds him back from doing it. its not some "forgiveness plot". maybe try to understand the sort of show you're watching first before saying stuff like "this x thing in c-dramas need to change!".

also why is the tension between qu hanshan/sword king and xiao qiushui kinda....sdjsbfhks 🤣 loved that scene where they schemed together the acting and their chemistry was just popping off

this show barely gives yiren any grace lmao right after his embarrassing negotiation on eps 22 they give you xqs effortlessly doing the same thing but better with power gang executive the sword king on eps 23 like. okay. you might as well put 'useless' in neon signs on his face damn

ahhh yea same costume team would make sense. and yesss kang chuyu and the water king's men with dfs's iconic red robe at that temple. that shit fried me cause why is afei's wardrobe up for thrifting now 😭

i know the color grading and post-production quality of this drama is inconsistent but some of them are surprisingly aesthetically pleasing lmao. its such an experience bcs one minute you're like "dear god what is this" and the next its like "oh...that's actually really pretty waow" 🤣 i'm growing fond of it

is it just me or do some of these villain's costumes seem recycled from mlc's wardrobe? particularly di feisheng's or do neighboring productions actually do this and i've just never heard of it before.

thiss. as someone who loves shounen and wuxia i rlly enjoyed the drama and found it to be good despite the flaws. imagine my surprise coming to the comment section full of ppl saying they don't get the plot or found it hard to watch like?? the first few episodes were literally the most fun lighthearted part and laid the groundwork nicely what the hell are u talking about 😭

yess it was genuinely such a heartfelt and nice moment for xqs bcs he gets that comfort and support from an older figure which he's currently deprived of from his older brothers 😭💕 he def needs more earnest ppl around him!

can you remember which scene it is and perhaps the eps? i'm trying to remember but can't

?? just bcs some people like cheng yi doesn't mean all their reviews are biased. people will always have diff standards and expectations than you anyway. i recommend just giving the trailer and the first 1-2 eps a go, the drama is only halfway aired literally nobody knows how the show is gonna land itself yet

no fr the way he embraced xqs got me awwwww-ing at the screen why did he tuck his face so affectionately like that in the hug lmaooo

just came back from watching a mysterious lotus casebook clip after the episode and i'm in love with how palpable the acting difference is. also, the way he seems 3x bigger and older as li chen zhou is just- *chefs kiss*. cheng yi and tan jianci are the only two male actors i've seen from costume dramas whose acting i could probably praise endlessly

dude...xqs's powers are literally limited ((which is a good point for the drama)) he BARELY escapes their encounters safely and you expect him to end the guy??? ntm there's so many things to consider on which actions you should prioritize in an encounter like that

+i don't think the brother's conflict was done all that well and there are definitely some flaws to the production but overall its a great ride. the fight scenes are some of the best I've seen in recent years...like I actually look forward to the fights and xiao qiushui is just the most adorable likeable mc. despite the underdeveloped tension between the brothers that made the second fallout feel a little flat i really do think the coherence of the overarching plot has been well done. putting aside the usual cdrama casual infodumps the small nuggets of exposition they've put really hook you to want to find out more. it's fun. it's interesting. and it's an epic journey. the rating on this is so undeserved i hope it gets much higher later 🤲

also what is it with this drama and making you down bad for cheng yi like i already loved him before but this one gives you the most violent cuteness aggressions...i want to see him in every drama ever PUT THAT MAN IN EVERYTHINGG
