As someone who has been following this situation from the start, this is the first time I'm witnessing this phenomenon…
It's usually not great to be on the side of the "villagers with forks". Then again, you mention SK's former laws + dating culture and how they are (were) lenient on these topics. I personally think THIS is the real issue.
This man is not pure evil: he. is .the. product. of. his. environment.
And if this scandal allows SK to have debates and discussions on those issues, at least something good could come out of all this terrible mess.
WTF happened after the credits, is Ju Seong Hyeon obsesed with Jung Da On since high schoolβ
I think it was just a very K-drama way of showing that they had met before. But I think he's just helping him as a stranger seeing someone collapsing in the street. Ju Seong Hyeon has "saved" him 3 times is total π
It's a good show but it's SO over the top. It's giving DRAMA seasoned with DRAMA and a pinch of DRAMA, with a bit of DRAMA on top and served with DRAMA on the side!!!
Does anyone know any bls with similar vibe? I'm really loving this concept
I'm fairly certain this show is an exception to MANY rules in the BL game (but I do hope it revolutionizes the game somehow?). The only other show that I can compare it to is I Told Sunset About You. Not that the vibes are similar. But it's the only other show that stands out in terms of having its own style and for the quality of the production.
I swear this show is a fucking rollercoaster and I'm never ready for it... I change fave pairings every scene. Or I end up thinking no one should be together because GUYS, STAHP IT NOW, BE NICE OKAY?!
The last episode is really awful. I'm not against the concept of 2 leads not ending up together. But it has to be done well. Obviously, it's not the case here.
First, I absolutely hate when the plot is "abandoned": why are we showed that the grandma is connected to Shi Wen for it to be absolutely not used in the plot later on? The whole glowing necklace business is never explained...OK
Second, this was simply boring: a full episode of flashbacks and writing letters which bring absolutely nothing to the story. The idea that he has to relive the moments to accept his fate is something that can be expressed through one / two scenes. Here, it was more than half of the episode.
Last but not least...what on earth is the message of this show? At best, it's absolutely empty, there was no intention to express anything and it's just a series of random tropes that were very clumsily used. At worst, it's basically saying that we have no control whatsoever over anything in our life and that happiness is unattainable for completely random reasons. Considering that it is representing a gay couple, it's even more distressing: "be careful gay people, if you insist on dating someone your own sex, the person you love will die!" I'm sorry WHAT? I actually think it's the first option (i.e. completely empty of reflexion) but I can't help but overthink this. π
I'm still happy to find Chinese productions exploring BL stories. Next one will be better!
To me, this is one of those rare BL that enters an elite category, alongside I Told Sunset About You. Because the plot, the actors, the cinematography NEVER failed us. γγγγ¨γγγγγΎγγ <3
My God this show was terrible. Should have trusted my instinct instead of waiting stupidly that it would get better…
My thoughts exactly! It sounds way too serious but this was an awakening π I'm in the process of learning to drop after one episode when I'm not feeling it. I've waisted a lot of my time watching shows that are not worth it (including this one). Quality over quantity.
Isn't it rare to have good cinematography + good plot / writing + good acting in a Thai BL? I hope I don't jinx it by saying this too early π± Please continue to be this good! ALSO. Great is such an interesting character. He is appeasing in a way that I can't explain. He carries a lot of sadness too. I find him particularly unsettling and touching.
