I have watched both two dramas you mentioned. This one might not be as big a project like those two, but definitely does take second place in terms of screenplay, directing, dialogues and cast performance. plus the chemistry between the leads are super charged. The male lead is a perfect fit for his role and the female lead is just great with him.

Ha ha, hearing her call him "husband" has certainly flew him to the moon, but brought back down to earth right after when she then corrected herself calling him "master" again

ha ha, it is a big deal to him, I am convinced that in his heart she is the love of his life but too stubborn to say it. Now that she calls him "husband" how can he not be over the moon. Ah yes, then brought back down on earth when she corrected herself calling him "my lord" again.

I have been skimming thru chapters of the novel too and am convinced the screenwriter did a marvellous job, the version in the drama is much more relatable, the characters are better defined and the story more realistic. The second life in the novel puts me off a quite a bit.

The screenplay, directing, editing of this drama are consistent and with great pacing. I have not enjoyed a combination of these elements embodied in one single drama for the longest time, when all is put together and delivered by a great cast, I can't help myself but keep watching all episodes over and over again ..

he was the good guy initially in Princess Rebel but greed and secret love for the princess decided his tragic death. While he was dying he said he wanted to go back home to the ml...sigh..

He might become the enemy of the Wei but he could also take the path to protect the Wei if he knows his mother was taken by force and died of grief. For once I'd like him to play the good guy, let's see how it plays out.

Yes I have watched the dramas you listed, and I enjoyed them all. However, they are very much of the minority. Hope the industry, as I mentioned earlier, are more prone to develop screenplays free of classi trope that have dominated our screens for so long.

indeed, unlike the classic trope of misunderstandings, doubts, near tragedies that we have seen just too many times in Chinese dramas. Hopefully the overwhelming acceptance of this new tend by the public serves as encouragement to screenwriters and directors to put behind classic trope and venture into new themes.

I guess I jumped to the conclusion.

OMG, so the cousin is evil, plus along comes the male lead's ex girl friend as if troubles weren't enough, I don't think I can handle well plots after plots to cause rifts between the leads, I am really inclined to go back to the drama when the dust settles and to enjoy the bad guys being called out.
