On Lost You Forever Season 2 Jul 18, 2024
May be if season 2 had gone on air right after season 1 then I would feel differently, but a year passed since s1 was aired and now with s2, I can't help but to fee lt lacks the excitment and pacing in s1, are there different directors, different editors and even different screenplay writers for s1 and s2? Is it because I read the book and my expectations for s2 were high? Something is off in season 2, and I don't think I am the only one feeling it as the Douban rating for S2 is 6.6, while s1 is 7.6.

Episodes 19 and 20 should go on air tomorrow leaving only 3 more episodes to go. Would Tencent put episodes 21,22, and 23 in an express package by end this week ? I wonder.

Title The Double
Everything (and I'm not arguing with you here) is left to the viewer to do detective work/make educated guesses…
Indeed, I don't want ambiguities in drama endings in general and I especially wanted a clear and well described happy ending for this drama, it was produced and directed with great pacing and clarity from day one so why messing up the ending in the last minute? Why put us viewers to have to work out the ending ourselves when all they had the do is to end the drama properly in the last 10 minutes or so. Anyway, the cast delivered great performance, and I look forward to seeing the leads in other projects.

me too, me too, am rewatching it on Netflix, it finally arrived, I thought they would pull regional restrictions…
Indeed very good quality, I wouldn't worry too much about it saying 30 episodes, it should just be an oversight, no straming platform would cut10 episodes, let alone a paid one.

Watched all episodes as soon as they were aired, express package and the lot. Since I stil couldn't stay away from it, I clicked and watched nearly all videos of this drama made by bloggers in youtube, they made up stories of their own and I watched them all as the next best thing. I came across just now a review by "cdrama invasion" in youtube and found her comments matching 100% to my thoughts. She wished if more were explained about the final battle, how the male lead pulled off victorious (he did not die, the drama has a HE as the producer eagerly stated in a weibo post, after a video clip was leaked showing him actually got knifed spilling blood. The producer went on to explain in the post that scene was shot but put aside, not meant to be aired, he demanded who uploaded the clip to be fired). I wish the bodyguards didn't die in the drama, the book has them well and alive, same as I wish the producer and director would have given us a proper ending with the same clarity given upto 15 minutes before the ending. I am just not satisfied with the female lead standing beside the tree and a horseman riding towards her with her jade pnedant in god knows when and how.

Then his 2 servants died, then when he is about to be attacked by a whole host of enemies it cuts away to show…
While the book gave a sound reason for the battle to esist, the screenplay did not, it deleted the reason for the battle and went ahead to shoot the batte scene for the satisfaction of the self-claimed "artistic talent" of the director, what nonsense. I think seeing how the viewers were hyping for a HE, the production dragged the main leads to do a 5 minute HE scene to appease the public while the drama was nearing its seemingly tragic end.

She’s not great of an actress it’s a mystery why she has so many projects.
I agree, don't know the reason for it neither, she is not great to look at, her acting is quite wooden, hardly any facial expressions, there are so many better actresses out there who have actually less projects.

Right, so they didn't talk about the ending. Thanks all the same. I made up a very very happy ending for the drama in my mind. :).

oh there is video out there, it doesn't show up on YouTube, can you possibly put the link to it here? I' s love to hear what they say about the ending, the last 20 minutes or so of the drama don't really sit well on me. the entire drama was perfect up to then, but the writer or the director dropped the ball in giving us a battle uncalled for ending the lives of the 2 childhood guards and a possible death of the male lead. what the hack, while the battle in the book is justified, supported by a narrative that does not exist in the drama, the drama according to the modified version of the book should have put a closure to the riot in the fights inside the palace, and no unnecessary pain should be added tlat the end.

OMG the emptiness is real…what to watch now 😵‍💫
I know, right. I have dug up a costume drama "the royal feast", the same female lead and the male lead is Xu Kai, just as handsome and a very good actor.

I’m just going to pretend the last 10-15 mins of episode 40 didn’t happen.
i am with you on this, what a hasty wrap up, it does not follow the flow of the drama, the death of the princess is so uncharacteristic and so is he actually getting control of the palace army, thinking to have power and the girl he murdered.
The fights in the palace if written better could have been the end of the riot, but no, they wanted to do a battle scene that clearly showed the duke being tragically defeated at the hands of god knows who exactly. But months later he came back victorious with no explanation at all. To sum up, what could have been a drama of the year turned out to be one of the many with scripts written poorly in the last minute. what a disappointment.

Title The Double Spoiler
It could have been a great screenplay derived from a book from start to finish if the screenplay writer did not literally drop the ball in the last 2 episodes. How the ex husband plotted and schemed with courage he never had and foolishly thinking he could have power and his wife back, how a fierceful stonehearted princess turned into a meek lovesick woman who choose to end her own life were totally off track, none of these follows the flow of the narrative. The fights in the palace and at the gate to the capital, if written and directed with care could have given a befitting closure of the riot , but no, the screenwriter hastily wrapped up the fights leaving room to a battle in far away land, a battle which looked to be a terrible, tragic defeat of the Duke but lord behold, he came back months and months later victorous with no explanations. What a great disappointment at the very end. The sudden careless turn of the screenplay at the end does not do justice to the performance of a great cast, all roles, small and big are truly covered by professionals, a big appluase.

I was about to say that too. I have really enjoyed this from start to maybe episode 36/37… then the last few…
points well taken. The fights in the palace were superficial and so was the battle in far away land. The death of the princess was a rush and unfitting to her fierceful character, the female lead shooting the palm of her ex husband from afar, causing the drop of the talisman was simply ridiculous. so much were unsaid, unexplained, the male lead was leaving the next day and all of the sudden the wedding night. what a pity the screenplay took such a disappointing turn in the last few episodes.

it was such a well written screenplay upto the last two episodes then events became unrealistic and the last battle was uncalled for.
