I am not a super super fan of Xiao Zhan, but I do think he carries great the role he plays, warm inside and rational outside, his body language and facial expressions are just right. I just wish he is more outspoken, but that is the screenplay he was given with, not his fault. As for Yang Zi, I think she is a bit "noisy" and too naive in her role, but I don't think it is her fault either, again it was the screenplay she was given with and she acted as the director wanted her too. So to sum up, the screenplay and the directing could have been better, much better, the main leads would have no problems to deliver.

I get it is called "Royal feast", but am getting bored to see cooking and dishes in every episode, it is dragging on and on and there is just too few screen time of the main leads together.

The poison in the wine was real and she knew, we can tell simply by seeing her horrified reaction when the king took the cup off her hand and drank it. Apparently she wanted to poison the queen since she did offer the wine to her.

A story started great in the beginning but has gone so off as it moves on. Episode 15 can well be the ending of a drama that started great but ended poorly.

It is such a lovely drama, the dialogues are great, they touch my heart, the cast did an excellent job. I am not usually a fan of Korean dramas, but having seen several of them in the past months or so, I have the impression that Korean scriptwriters are great in story telling and they write excellent dialogues.

Memorable , yes I'd remember the Director alright, but not in way he wanted :)

Me too, I am looking for a Chinese period drama to watch so to take my thoughts and anger off the ridiculous ending of this drama. I have not found any yet so I have started watching a korean drama with English subtitles, it is called "the king's affection", very good story and great performance, it is available on netflix. It is also available but only in chinese subtitles on Duboku.com, they called it "Admiraton"

What a sh...t script, there is no reason at all for the story to end like it did. The sad ending is totally uncalled for. While I still cry willingly for how One and Only ended, the way they finish this drama only makes me angry.

Just finished watching ep 45 and 46. For me, this is where the drama drama ends, am not buying any last minute tragic ending set to deliberately draw tears. One thing is to cry buckets for unavoidable tragic ending such as in One and Only, another is to cry over totally unnecessary bad ending.

yes, he was magnificent there, incredulous, then hurt and the pain, all those emotions so visible on his face. Chapeau.

I have watched all 44 episodes aired up to now, seeing how things stand and the fact that the mermaid can cure Fang Zhu from the poison, plus he himself knows how to break the Baixi bond with the king, there is no reason for not giving a happy ending to every couple in the drama, including the first disciple of Fang Zhu with the blind girl hidden away in the north. There can be a big final battle with the twin brother, but the victory should go to the good guys. We can all be happy when the drama ends if the Director is not out for blood (our tears) on purpose by killing off any of the main cast in the end.

Did he appear again? In which episode? I only saw him once in the early start of the series when he saw Haishi walking out from a shop dressed as a woman. Indeed Shifu needs to be taught a lesson.

I have been watching some clips on youtube and connecting them to some scenes shown in the theme song, I think I have a pretty good grip of the ending of the story. It is not a happy ending I so wished for, in fact it is tragic, the ML knew all along what would happen, his elder disciple is actually the prince of the kingdom who fought against the dynasty, the FL had to fight him at the end. The ML died in the sea having planned that the FL would be safe. This is so tragic, don't think I have enough tears for it, not after having shed so much of it already in watching the end of Allen Ren in OaO.
