Okay but......................... Won't anybody comment on the disturbing "romance" between Chae Ohk and her brother or are we simply supposed to nod and go "ah, transcending bond of love" and just forget about their attraction....................
Hihi the rabbit hole brought a lot of interesting things and new friendships didn't it? 🤭 This year it looks…
Thank you for commenting, dear <3 !
It did brought some very interesting viewings and beautiful friendships indeed. This is just the start but I feel more confident this year. Who knows what 2022 will bring. We'll see how it went in December!
Last year was my first time attempting the drama challenge too (I've been watching dramas for over 10 years),…
It can be difficult yes. At the end of the day it's about having fun watching, the challenge is a little bonus game in our viewing experiences.
If you ever want to try again, some users who commented here have a similar watching habit as yours. They watch what they want and at some point they look at the blocks and try to fill them with what they watched and try to complete those who are the most filled. This might be a way for you if you ever to try again :)
I did the challenge for the first time too. And I started out with Easy and kept adding on to it. My idea is to…
Thank for sharing your experience and reflection about your experience. Chosing all the blocks at once last year felt overwhelming as the year went on and it lost me. This time around I'm just doing a block and as soon as I'm done with one, add another and only focus on it, it really helps.
I discovered many good dramas last year also. So far I have had some very good surprises here and I'm so excited for the rest of the challenge!
I am amazed at people that even try to do the challenge. I just clicked on the link for this year and it's seems…
Thank you for your comment!
Small challenges to yourself works well too and they are an accomplishment. At the end of the day, it's all about discovering new dramas and try to broaden our viewing experience. This year I want to watch more older dramas as well. I've added some good surprises with the one I've already watched (like Miss Kim's Million Dollar Quest or Damo) (and then Jewel in the Palace but I was more confident about how much I would like it ^^).
Hope you'll have a great year of watching drama too and if you ever want to join the MDL Challenge, feel free to send me a DM for help. You can join anytime and baby steps is the key, no pressure, just one drama at a time !
What a very pleasant article. I haven't seen many variety shows but now I have added several on my radar, thank you !
For the travel category I would also add Where on Earth?? with beautiful scenery and great bonding between the four hosts and some good reflexions as well on how they see the world and how their perception changed thanks to their travels
I’m such a mood watcher so i can’t even plan anything out. This challenge is kicking my butt
We all work differently yes. I felt overwhelmed not planning enough last year which is why I'm tyring out planning ahead this year. But these are just results of my own experience. As long as you have fun watching en enjoying drama, that's the most important thing, no matter how you do it. Good luck for the challenge !
Choosing blocks is key! My strategy is to watch whatever I want to watch for the first half of the year then try…
Oh it's a good strategy, I had not thought of that! I tried to fit in with blocks too last year. But as I said, I had already chosen my blocks and felt "trapped" with them (I didn't know you could change them or add some, etc) ^^ ! Maybe I'll try that with one block this year. Thanks for the tips!
I really really wanted to do the watch challenge this year, but it's too complicated for me and I just gave up…
Making your own challenges is good too, they cater directly to your tastes, desires and habits but also allows you to start slow if you want to diversify your watching experience.
However, if you ever want to try out the challenge, feel free to send me a DM for help !
Same here! Thank you for putting into words my experience and offering solutions! Ii was very eager to begin with…
Ah slumps are always the worst. Not to mention current world situation which does not help. I hope you're feeling better now. It can be a tad overwhelming yes. I hope you still have fun watching dramas tho and maybe you'll try the challenge again next year !
Thank you for this article! It's very educational ^^I have never participated in the challenge because I get overwhelmed…
As @Shiro said the challenge tried to think of everyone. So even people with not much time can try and take part. I hope you'll have fun doing it if you decide to join :)! Feel free to send me a DM as well if you need help
As much as I want to participate, I get easily confused and overwhelmed. The whole point for me this year in trying…
It always feels overwhelming to start, it's difficult to actually know where to begin and how to build from there. Baby steps are keys and don't hesitate to ask for help as well, whether in the feeds or forums. Hoping you'll enjoy your challenge :) !
Judging by Han Sang Jin's instagram, there is a special broadcast this week on KBS (maybe reruns of Iris ??? A I saw some clips on the KBS youtube channel) and the show will resume next week if I understood correctly
Supernatural/monsters? Yes or no? Can someone update me when itnis answered for sure?
Not monsters. At least not now. Just a ghost and in episode 3 some hallucinations where a character sees their dead relatives but the relatives are not ghostly or zombies just an hallucination as if they were alive but they're not)
Oh, I had the similar habit at the beginning of watching dramas. I did not drop anything, I just couldn't hahaha…
Yes when you go in you're very eager and you try to look at many different things because there is so much to see!! A bit like a buffet. But as watch more, you know that this part of the buffet is not for you, or that this one is a "only a chosen one" kind of deal when the other part of the buffet you go without restrictions haha.
What a very insightful article. I think I am quite the opposite viewer : I can never seem to drop a drama unless I really hated what was given me and just knew it wasn't for me. it only happened once. But when I begin a show, I usually try to finish it even if sometimes I am not feeling it. It's a mindset similar to "I came up all this way, it'd be a shame to stop here".
I think this is also because I am/was still pretty new to dramas up until recently. But the more dramas I watch, the more I realise my taste for dramas has sharpened. Maybe I will start dropping dramas ? I'm still not sure but still your article was very insightful and you explained your process really well.
But like Shiro said, just ten are enough to complete the challenge !
