I'm still trying to understand what people love about this show.
The characters are almost all horrible people. The ML and FL aren't horrible, but they're a mess too, annoying dummies. The only lovable character is her son, Pil Goo. He's so smart and protective of his mother and doesn't take any BS from adults. In an early episode, he cries because he's tired of always having to defend her and I agree with him. Ma'am, grow a pair and stop letting your 7-year-old boy fight your battles.
Dong Baek could've been a good character but somebody seriously messed up in her portrayal, not sure if it was the director or if Gong Hyo Jin is just not a good actress. She's always so mousy when those horrible neighbours hurl the most outrageous accusations at her. I would've wiped the floor with them if they talked to me like that.
SY two-timing is really putting me off this drama. Their chemistry is nice but he really seems like he has no backbone when he won't break it off for good with his gf and face his parents. HJ should not even talk to him until he gets his shit together.
Pun and Ashi had a lot of potential as a couple. Pun sometimes got on my nerves, but I loved Ashi. Some of the episodes in the middle were really cute. But then the last two episodes, what a dumpster fire. I didn't even care if they were together anymore by the end. Why did they do this to us?
This series is abysmal. In the first season, I accepted the age gap with great effort, when probably there can never be an acceptable situation when a 29-year-old can be a relationship with an 18-year-old. But only after a lot of mental gymnastics.
This season is even worse when watching their relationship. The way Shin is always trying to confirm Minato has just an ounce of reciprocating feelings towards him and Minato never confirms and treats him like he's a pest and a dirty secret is heartbreaking. There's no real communication between them. And this is all played for shits and giggles when the only times I've seen this dynamic was in abusive relationships. I know we tend to suspend our disbelief and excuse a lot of disturbing things in BLs but when it's that in your face every episode I don't understand how you're supposed to ignore it.
People keep praising Shin's patience with Minato when in fact he's only that way because he's young and inexperienced. If Shin was older there's very little chance he would have tolerated the fact that Minato completely lacks maturity and emotional intelligence.
Not gonna lie, the first episode was kinda atrocious. Yi's become completely unhinged, their relationship jumped 1000 years backwards and then we have the dreaded amnesia plot.
Lol no matter how much hate this show gets it wouldn't change how many people it touched on a deep level. It doesn't…
I agree. I've rewatched it so many times, I keep going back to it from time to time even though there are so many BLs out there nowadays because it still moves me.
