At the end, she says it doesn't matter if he's one twin or the other. I mean, it does matter because one of them beat and raped her and one of them didn't. I'm not sure I love the ambiguous ending.
I wouldn't say it's a fitting ending marrying a rapist no matter what she did. She is definitely disturbed because most people don't solve their problems by murdering them. But at the same time, she didn't kill out of pleasure. She killed the stepfather because he killed her mother having a history of violence, she tried to kill her lover after repeated beatings and rapes, she killed the scammer because he started all of the twins' fiasco and was set in ruining her life. In real life, I would hope her crimes are discovered and she would go to prison and receive counseling. In drama-land I would hope she didn't marry her rapist.
I enjoyed the first 11 episodes but it got so tedious after that. It got to a point where the FL was crying in every scene and I was just over it. So much wasted potential.
I'm probably a monster but most of the sobbing scenes took me out of the story. I loved the first 3 episodes, I thought this would definitely end up my favorite series. I liked the story and the acting overall, except episode 4 was a little too much for me. The angst and the drama just proved too much. I would have preferred that they played it a little more subtle. I understand the crying scenes were needed to portray the angst and the pain Teh was experiencing but almost every scene ended up in sobbing which made it feel a little forced. It's still a great series overall but I guess I'm just disappointed I didn't experience complete emersion as I expected.
Ok dont yell at me... I’m Genuinely curious about why people think this story shouldn’t have been told. There…
I somehow missed the shipping on those two couples, I guess I just didn't hang around the fandom close enough.
Fair point about not being afraid to make diverse content just because of what people will think or to educate people.
I'm not advocating this show to be banned, people can see it for themselves or enjoy it or not. I didn't particularly enjoy the show and I later found out nor did one of my coworkers who is gay. When I talked to him he pointed out disliking this type of story because of some of the storylines in this and how they relate to the history of representation and I share his viewpoint.
But that's just an opinion and people are free to watch this or not.
Ok dont yell at me... I’m Genuinely curious about why people think this story shouldn’t have been told. There…
Fair point, also. I'm not saying the show should not exist, I'm just saying this is why a lot of people might have had such a strong negative reaction to the show (in this comment section at least.)
Im a closeted gay so im curious is ther any lgbt supporters here ??? If you think this bl drama deserves a higher…
I believe I'm a supporter, I don't know if I'm automatically a Fujoshi just because I'm not gay myself but I consume media with lgbtqia+ content, including 'BL' shows. Shipping BL couples is not my main raison d'etre - like the women portrayed in this show. But if you still want my opinion, this season made me very uncomfortable.
I'm just not ok with shipping the stepbrothers because there is a big age gap which means the youngest was just a boy when they became a family and the older was basically an adult. I feel the same way regarding a couple where there was a 30-year old guy who's dating a 20-year woman who's been his sister since she was 10 and he watched her grow up. I would feel the same if they were just neighbors. It just makes me think about power imbalance and grooming. Even if it was not the case in this show (I think maybe this is why they leaned so heavily into the younger brother leading the 'courting' so it would send a message that the older brother is not a creepy groomer) they still made the relationship feel so wrong because they basically romanticized an act of violation and utter disregard for the older brother when the younger deliberately had him black-out drunk and had sex with him even when he was in no position to consent. They thought it's better if the younger one is a creepy stalker rapist so it's clear he's not a victim of grooming. That's a choice.
Li Chen and Muren were kind of sweet together but how they got there leaves a bad taste. They discovered their feeling for each other because a straight woman was so obsessed with BL and fantasized over two coworkers being together. For me, this looked creepy AF and it made me question whether I'm just as creepy for watching shows like this. Li Chen also realized he was attracted to Muren when he watched him masturbate for hours/all night ??? when Muren was drugged by the coworker who clearly intended to rape him. I mean did he have to stay and watch instead of giving him some privacy and just stay close by? It feels like this is stepping on serious boundaries. And all the jokes obsessive remarks about who's top and who's bottom... Obviously, I'm not a gay guy, but I feel this is not the kind of conversation a new couple would have. And in public.
I think I can compartmentalize just fine between fiction and real life, I don't confuse actors with their characters or on-screen persona. I also love all the zombie shows but I don't root for a zombie apocalypse. I occasionally forgive characters like Neegan from The Walking Dead especially because it's just fiction.
But I guess can only compartmentalize to a certain point and in this show, some of the things were too disturbing for me to just go with the flow and be into it just because it's fiction. I mean I still watched it until the end but it's not something I would recommend to people.

Well, it's not like anyone places any stigma on the hetero community in the first place. That kind of thing is considered an exception. Nobody rooted for the Lannister siblings (Game of Thrones) to be together either and most people felt weird about the two major characters being together considering they were aunt and nephew even if they didn't know that before sleeping together.
In this case, they're not blood-related but they're almost like being blood-related because they grew up as siblings. There's a huge age difference between the two and the stalker brother was a boy when they became a family. Transitioning to lovers is bizarro territory. This is not the same thing as two teenagers or adults getting to know each other after their parents start a relationship. PLUS the stalker brother literally had sex with his blacked-out from too much alcohol older brother so he would force their relationship into lovers territory. For most people that is rape.
People who support the lgbtqia+ community will see that it just a show relying on BL tropes. But people from the outside, who already put so much stigma on this community can easily say 'so this is what you guys are really into'. Religious nutters will even cast out an older gay sibling out of fear they will 'turn' their young siblings.
Look up the 'Depraved Homosexual Trope'. The gay community has fought so much to get better representation in Hollywood and shows portraying a couple like this might undo a lot of the progress. This is not just about entertainment. A lot of people get their education only via the media they consume so people have an reason to be concerned about the writing. A lot of people need just the tiniest excuse to attack the gay community.
The actors gave it their best but the writing and the script were not stellar this season. The transitions between events are too jarring, I constantly feel like I'm missing something. I would have preferred if they focused on the 4 characters most important of the series and no screen time to extras.
2 couples let alone 3 is too much for a series with 6 short episodes per season. The first season somehow managed to make do with this setup but this season fell short. I still liked it and I adore Shi De and Shu Yi and Yu Zhen Xuan & Pei Shou Yi had a lot of potential. But they deserved their own screentime with their own season, not taking away time from the main couple.
I think I would enjoy Thai series more if the subtitles were less atrocious. Or the dialogues are written really poorly, nush sure which. This last episode was especially bad.
Yo. I'm dropping this season, it's making me feel like a creep for watching. It's not that I can't handle the themes, but the execution is so off. Almost everybody in this is bonkers. I have been able to get past the over-the-top-ness of the characters in the past seasons, even if they were a little corny, they were still overall sweet and funny. But these current characters feel like the most extreme caricatures.
The romance between non-blood step-siblings is still frowned upon pretty much everywhere. But it can be tolerable if it's well done. But to add on top of all that a huge age difference? They're not two teenagers that fall in love when their parents just got married, the younger one was like 8 when they became a family, they grew up as brothers. The power imbalance makes the relationship creepy, like a teacher-student one. Also, Yong Jie comes out as totally unhinged. He needs medical treatment. Not because he fell in love with stepbrother but the way he goes about it: stalking, breaking and entering, attacking people on the street, treating Xing Si like a possession "I got you drunk on purpose you so I would have you as my gift for my 20th birthday". Madness. And nobody, including Xing Si, has any serious reaction to how freaking nuts YJie is. "Oh, you broke into my house, that's ok, I'll give you a key".
Mei Fang is the most insufferable fujoshi, she has no boundaries. Even as a parody she's too much to stomach. Li Cheng is kind of funny at times but also annoying for what he does to his friend to "get the girl". The only character I really like so far is Mu Ren, I really feel sorry for him for having to live around so many unhinged people. There's no nuance here. All the BL tropes and cliches are laid out so heavy it's become unbearable to watch.

Anyways, it was a gripping messed-up story.
