I feel like these should be part of the categories up top. The We-Met-As-Children trope does get tiresome, but…
Ah, the PTSD trope... I'm watching a new drama I bet will have all of the above tropes. It certainly has connection from childhood and the PTSD one and I'm like really, that's his 'redeeming' quality he has PTSD from some mysterious incident he had as a kid. And the Second Lead is so handsome and funny and cute and everything that the ML in not.
So he realizes he misses her because he can't operate his TV?
Caption: swooning romance between worst guy/boy ever (redeemed cause he's rich, a boss and has PTSD...not) and Plain Jane who wins him over after she has a make-over, shows extreme resilience to humiliation and is the perfect maid/nanny. I really wanted to like this but it's darn hard.
I really don't like the ML so far. Are we just gonna ignore the fact that he pretty much used her as a honeytrap?…
Same. He seems like such a biàntài (pervert) so far. Rude, mean, juvenile and distastefully focused on women from a lust perspective. And they're using PTSD to make him more palatable? Pass.
The acting in this drama is atrocious from both the leads and the side characters but my weakness for Prince Chiu and the sort of interesting plot have overcome this. I will see this drama till the very end.
I'm just going to go re-watch Sotus S instead. The show started so well but I don't know what the hell happened after they became a couple. They did not necessarily have to become physical but come on, there barely was any chemistry after that and the plot was terrible, so much unnecessary drama. And the last two episodes were just dumpster fire. The disappointment is even bigger since the beginning was so promising.
The series was going so well, why bring a 'first love' into the mix, especially a girl? And it's so weird that they barely act as a couple. Awkward pats on the head and brief hugs are hardly 'we live together' stage. They had so much chemistry in the beginning. What's happening with the directing of this series? It doesn't have to be TharnType skinship but the leads feel so uncomfortable to be in each other's space. A little affection would not kill anyone.
The editing in this gave me a headache. The soundtrack was even worse. The story had potential (it was dark, twisted even icky at times but ya know, it was different) but storytelling sucked.
Why can't they explore the age gap themes with characters of legal age, throughout the world? Why couldn't he be 21 and Wako 32? Iko being 15 casts such a dark shadow that takes away the validity of Wako's other problems, who could have been a sympathetic character had she not been predatory towards a 15-year old. Just saying.
