Oh I really can't differentiate between the style of SIMM and HA lol but like you said, once they find their niche I think they'll be good to go. To be honest, I think Dunk's acting is the best when his character isn't doing something awkward. He laughs and jokes a lot irl so it suits him to do it in character too. Maybe he's a bit odd sometimes, but I don't read him as awkward. The awkward pauses and hesitation in his character are probably what make his acting look the worst imo. Joong has his typecast already, they need to find a character that really fits Dunk.

The mediocrity of the show itself opens the door for people to be extra critical about the acting. They are still in desperate need of acting lessons, but a good show with a good premise can be navigated even by actors who are subpar. F4 Thailand is an example of smooth storytelling and fitting characters (and a humongous budget but that's not necessary) distracting from the lesser talents on screen (Bright, Dew, Nani). If there's no helping people like Dunk or Joong, and no getting rid of them, then GMM should work around them.

Well Dunk's acting could make a pile of rocks look good in comparison. That's the only reason people continuously comment about how Joong needs a new partner. The reality is that they both suck and need a lot of improvement. A new partner isn't going to help, only intense acting classes. Dunk is funny and good at talking, if he stops being awkward on set to the point of looking scared of filming then he could have a chance of being a good actor. Joong, well... Maybe he needs to stop being type-cast as the cool and constipated type, it's making his range look extremely limited.

"Actors improving thanks to their partners" can only work if one of them is actually good. People kid themselves into believing Joong is vastly superior to Dunk. The solution to Joylada's lack of talent is neither shuffling them around with other actors or relying on 1/2 of a pairing to do the acting. The latter works with GeminiFourth because Fourth is actually talented. He's smooth enough that someone can ride on his coattails. Same with EarthMix although I'm not sure if that's a controversial opinion or not. Rather than talented pairings, GMM has more talented individuals. Easier to get away with being called a "talented pair" it if you're paired with someone good and you're at least half-decent enough to keep up. People watching Hidden Agenda haven't realized that JoongDunk share the gutter together, and apparently some people don't realize the same about PondPhuwin. All of Joylada need to attend acting workshop. It's seriously funny to see people hailing one actor or another as deserving of a better partner.
I felt like I was insane watching this. Am I living in an alternate universe? The ultimate threat to the main couple's relationship was a high school student. Like a kid who is in high school. A teenage high school student?? A kid. And I'm supposed to believe these other characters are in college. How are you as an adult trying to fight a kid because he's stealing your adult man. If you think your man is cheating on you with a kid he's in a tutor/student relationship with, what is the reasonable course of action? According to DBK, it's to act childish as fuck. The character of Non should have never been written. You have to be insane to make a character like that even if you don't intend on portraying him as an evil antagonist, knowing fans of novels/shows like these will take an inch and run 10 miles. Fans aside, writing a character as childish as Pete and making him easily redeemable should be a crime. And the easy redemption in question is outing the kid with the abusive dad. You could argue there was no other solution to save Kao's public image, except the fact that the world could live another day without a false sexual assault accusation plot-line that a show like this isn't equipped to handle. I can't believe I watched this story unfold with my own eyeballs. Am I the only one who saw all this happen?????????

it actually has to do with his old homophobic girlfriend and his support for his buddies white and foei following the safe house incident. as far as ohm, his controversy is much more well known of course, so i didnt mention it. and i don't really know much about their falling out tbh just that whenever i see them together nanon doesn't look super happy lol.
as far as separating actors from their content, i can do it to a certain extent depending on the performance but something about nanon's performance in bad buddy was unconvincing enough that, paired with knowing he's straight and loves homophobes, it made me cringe badly. ohm was less awkward to watch for sure. a testament to either his skill or his comfort playing the role.
