It is a shame they're missing out but a lot of viewers hinder themselves that way. It's good you took a chance and got to enjoy the epicness that is TSL. You're absolutely right about the pace as well, so few dramas can grab your attention from the very beginning to the end.
In spirit of keeping the comments section going, has anyone seen the bts clip where Youqin and Wudai are beating up Lanjue? It got cut from the series which is a shame because it's hilarious! It's the scene where Yetan's imagining how to save Qingkui on the wedding day. I saw it once but lost the url...
It's not that I can't stand the main story, I just hate how cruel Li Chengyin was in the drama. So if he's worse in the novel, I don't know if I can push through it. Knowing that the Xizhou period is sweeter is somewhat reassuring =)
This drama truly shatters your heart and unleashes the angry feminist in me. I don't think I have the willpower to read the novel but is there a site that highlights the key differences from the drama?

I agree, people will always find something to complain about. The double standard is also too real. Both M/F characters can have flaws, at least try to stay objective. It's like seriously, thirst is the worst.
If some already thought Yetan as childish and bratty, how would they classify 90% of cdrama FLs then? I was not…
