He also suggests to SJ that saving her clan is more important than killing TH, and that it's what she really wants. Like, no, both are equally important. MY assumes a lot when it comes to SJ's feelings, and he learns too late that he is wrong on all counts.

I wonder where it is that the plot unravelled for you. I rather think, and most here agree, that at least the first 10 episodes were tightly paced and powerfully and creatively written. Even now that we're doing a rewatch, there are some bits that we totally missed that were important to the understanding of characters and set up. It was already mentioned that due to government constraints, the drama was cut to less than expected, so that does have an effect on how messy the plot got. But overall, it achieved its goal in telling the story about how a mistreated individual could rise up from his circumstances and be more benevolent than those who think themselves above other people. If a review is to be done, take out personal biases and impulses and judge how the drama really is. It can't cater to each individual's every whim because it was already done before that person could complain, so all the viewers can do is decide if they like it or not.
....sorry but I laughed at that bit where you mentioned about satanic occultist vibes. It's like the issue with Harry Potter being canceled because it teaches children about witchraft and wizardry which are the works of the devil. Just because the drama uses demon and devil and having demons bow down and be subservient to a Devil God? I don't know if that was your issue because frankly, I didn't get the review that much and could have done with a lot of editing, seeing as it was sooo long with nothing much to add on to the things said before, but thing is, with cdramas, sometimes demons are portrayed as more sympathetic than immortals who are supposed to be beyond and above good, and immortals, like Tian Huan, are devils incarnate dressed up as angels. So it really makes you think what really is good, and what is evil? Anyway, something I think gets lost in translation esp if you are not familiar with the culture you are only a spectator of, so that should make us be more careful about judging things as satanic and occultist (and using words like crap and so ridic is so...........juvenile).

I agree. SJ was the one wronged, so why should others decide how she is to be compensated or be given justice? Maybe it's because he's been a god too long that he doesn't know how to be human/immortal/ whatever term is supposed to be used here😅 and that he only sees things in black and white. And anyway he's the god of War, not of Justice, so he's just acting according to the rules of war I suppose.
At the very start, he never did know about SJ's feelings because THEY. NEVER. TALKED.🤯

B became power hungry only when MY was distracted with SJ. Couldn't do it on her own, even when she's Tian Hao's daughter. Good for the soldiers who didn't follow her.
Even at the very beginning, SJ does take every decision she makes as her own. When she decided to save MY, she gave up her essence. So it isn't surprising that SJ wouldn't depend on MY for vengeance, it's just that yeah she was hoping he would see it her way and punish TH equal to the crime of murdering her tribe. Which MY is too weak to do. Exchanging the crystal for TH's life, even if it meant an opportunity to revive her clan was not a brilliant moment. He should still have demanded it of the snake tribe to add compensation for SJ and thrown TH into the lightning punishments originally planned. Then we should have watched her die satisfyingly.

It was easy for MY to fight against demons during the battles, because as a soldier, he has black and white vision on who's evil and who's not. But when it came to SJ and TH, he barely understands how to punish the real evil. Poor SJ.😭

Yeah, that bit about trust was a facepalm moment. Trust MY? The person who left his wife alone, and if not for an accident, wouldn't have even bothered to know he has a wife? We the viewers know he was in love, but did SJ?? And trust MY, when he had already made deals with the devil? He has good intentions, but he doesn't realize he's doing it all wrong. Good for SJ to not trust him with anything.
Bai Lu killed it here, but when I imagine her really taking on a villainess role, I think she can't go full villain and make the viewers hate her as much as we hate YBC/TH because her face is just too sweet and lively to be too evil. But then, who knows?

...Sang Jiu🥺 Her loneliness, and sense of responsibility, drove her to act drastically and pursue vengeance for her tribe. Could there have been another way? If only MY showed that she was not alone, and that he would be with her always, maybe she wouldn't have devilized. But as it was, she felt that she was alone in the world, and that was the tragedy. MY could never reach her now, no matter what he did. Btw, BL's voice actor did a good job in conveying the change from innocent SJ to devil SJ, but of course, BL did a tremendous job showing the darkness in SJ.

Western beliefs interchange demons and devils and mean just one thing which is evil beings, but here demons and devils are separate, one is not necessarily bad, while the other is pure evil.

Demon and devil are two different things: demon is a spiritual being that comes from nature, while devil is a demon gone evil. Demons are originally good, but if they feel too much negative emotions, they will turn into a devil, which is bad. So SJ is originally good, but when her clam tribe died, she felt too much anger and grief that she turned into a devil.

Oh well, I suppose maybe him being an absentee father most of the time is a factor? Since he's off fighting wars as a general. YXW's mom is dead, YBC looked and acted "good" so nobody thought to check if she's really good, and YZY i think YX let loose, like what he said to YQY that if only YQY wasn't born upright, he (YX) would have let him become like a bum lile his older brother, because YX implied that didn't want any of his sons to be a soldier like him, knowing how hard it was.

From what I understand from the cdramas, being a demon isn't really bad as they are spirits from nature (fruits/snowflake like Jin Mi from Ashes of love, SJ who was originally a clam). It's being a devil that's bad as they are spirits that turned evil. SJ being a devil is bad, so MY tries to return her into her original good form.

As soon as she lost her divine essence, she had demon energy, since she was originally a demon as her family are demons... she devilizes when her demon energy becomes negative

Nah, that evil woman doesn't even know what consequences are. It's just me me me mine mine mine. Even when she dies, she'd just blame the one who killed her, she wouldn't even think that she deserves it for all the killing she did. That's how evil she is. Our poor clam princess😭
