But compared to some other dramas, at least IS doesn't spend too long to let the main leads reunite again. When they transitioned to the mortal arc, it's understandable that some characters and events are gonna flesh out before we can finally see the ML and FL together again.

I agree with you. Even just from the trailers last year, Cheng Yi and Yang Zi already screams chemistry, physics, biology, and even algebra 😂😂 No one can come in between them ~

When he's descending to the mortal realm, someone intercepted him causing him to lose his memories and powers being locked away by his celestial vest. From the looks of it, it might have to do with the demon clan and the war that happened. after all. And because of this, Lu Ming even lied to everyone in the heavenly realm that YY/TZ is dead. Smart, dude.
Even in the mortal realm, Tang Zhou and Yan Dan couldn't escape the same fate they had in the heavenly realm. The only difference I see is that Tang Zhou is willing to bend the rules of their sect the moment he carried Yan Dan on his back, despite the fact he says a man and a woman cannot touch. I believe this would become a pivotal point in their relationship. If Tang Zhou can break the rules for the sake of something (or someone; i.e. Yan Dan), then Ying Yuan will eventually have the courage to finally do the same.
The hardships and experiences they will venture into together will probably help them find their middle ground, along with a much deeper understanding of the position they both stand in, when they regain their memories.
