He was not given a drug. What Lu Ming gave him was a lotus seed. I think his memory was to be retained, but since we didn't get much details yet about what happened after he went to the mortal realm, we won't know the reason why he lost his memories. Although I'm curious why he crushed it though.

The scenes in the Heavenly Realm are always too sad, though. I was so ready to bawl my eyes out after Ying Yuan and Zhi Xi's convo after he blessed her to be a deity to fulfill Yan Dan's dream, and was left alone crying. Good thing it transitioned to Yan Dan 😅
They were emphasizing so much on Yan Dan's desire to become a playwright. It would be nice if, in the end, we'll actually get to see her in her own plays. That would be a good ending as well. It's really freshening to have the scenes a bit light-hearted.
Looks like in this mortal arc, we'll get to see the sweet moments of Yan Dan and Tang Zhou that they were denied in the heavenly realm.
