Yeah their relationship is definitely more fleshed out in the manga but the drama's time constraints don't really show the entirety of it. It's still a pretty close adaptation. I have to say that they picked a good actor for the role. He does remind me of his manga counterpart.
I dont know if drama follow manga closely BUT I like manga's synopsis better so I will share it here just in case…
I've read up to vol 9 of the manga and I would say the drama follows it closely, though they're missing a character. But even some of the dialogue is the same.
LOVED this drama. Is there a lot going on here? No and that's fine. There are plenty of other dramas out there that you could watch if you want a lot of dramatics. This is the type of the drama that you watch when you just want something quiet and relatable.
I already thought Osamu was very annoying but he took it to another level in EP 4. How the heck does he even have friends with that shitty personality?
I've watched 3 episodes and enjoying this drama so far. Some thoughts:
Very strange to dress Kento in long sleeve shirts and pants when it looks hot out and then Natsumi is dressed in tanks and shorts most of the time. Takumi, on the other hand, wears sweaters. I'm kinda confused what the weather is supposed to be like at the beach?
Other than, I'm looking forward to seeing how these characters and storylines develop.
They haven't announced a date yet. but an international release is happening. TBS dramas are being uploaded onto Netflix but not always when the dramas are airing.
I was rooting for Naoki to end up with Kumi-chan but I'm satisfied with the ending. Should've guessed that Kumi-chan's heart was with Masato considering she didn't push him away when he kissed her and how sad she looked when she thought he was jokingly confessing to her
What crazy timing! I recently started watching this and just finished ep 4, logged onto here to be surprised by this article :)
I'm really liking it a lot, especially the way their struggles and vulnerabilities are revealed. I just want to tell them that they're doing the best they can and it shows.
I don't think Makoto would go back to Kaede. She picked her job over him a long time ago. I would love to see…
Imo being alone and knowing that you don't have a husband to return to is different than being alone and knowing that you still have a husband that you need to face despite not wanting to...
I think I get why the writing isn't somehow very consistent, esp. in terms of the characterization, we have two…
Most romcoms will have only one screenwriter but it's not very uncommon for jdramas to have multiple directors. This page only lists 2 but on the official TBS website there are 3 directors. For example one of the most popular romcoms Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo has 2 screenwriters and 3 directors like this one.

Agree, Yoichi and Kaede were trying to patch things up with Michi and Makoto respectively by using sex. If that's not manipulative then I don't know what is. They both know very well that physical intimacy is what the other person wanted after all.
Maybe it was just me but was disappointed in the Kaede/Michi scene. Kaede should have had the upper hand in that…
Michi only spoke up for herself when Kaede scoffed and said "just because you don't have sex" as the reason for cheating with Makoto. Sorry, Kaede dug that hole for herself since Makoto cheated on her precisely because she wasn't giving him any physical intimacy. I think if she hadn't said anything like that, she would've continued to have the upper hand.
I don't think spending too much at work is an excuse for not meeting her husband's needs though. She chose not to engage in physical intimacy with him. She chose to ignore the signs. If you knew you were having marital problems and you chose not ignore them, that's your problem. Sure, she may not have cheated physically with anyone but I don't think she's 100% innocent. So that's why I insist that all 4 of them are equally problematic and tiring.

Agree that Michi might end up focusing on herself so it might be an open ending. I would be ok with that. She needs time to herself.
