I watched parts of the press conference where they talked about how the author of the manga gave her blessing and support for this project.
Supporting your oshi or oshikatsu is now an important part of daily life for many in Japan (you can find Japanese news clips on youtube talking about this and how much revenue is generated annually) and this drama as well as its prequel does a good job bringing that to life.
It's supposed to be a fun watch and it is so far. Indulges all the fangirl dreams.
So far I'm liking this season more than the last, but it might be because there are more dokidoki moments in this one. Suzuki Airi continues to be adorable!
First episode was interesting (I watched it with Chinese subs), Shison Jun's character is very flirty but there's definitely something sinister lurking...
6 episodes in and I'm actually liking it more than I expected. Initially dropped after the 1st episode but managed to catch ep 5 live in Japan and it wasn't bad as ep 1. So I went back to watch 2-4.
No doubt that Kairi is "kuzu" but I like the character growth for the leads.
What other roles has the dubber for Miles Wei done? The voice sounds so familiar but I can’t place it. Nothing…
Su Shangqing is the voice actor and this isn't the first time that he has dubbed Miles. He dubbed him in the 2021 drama Twelve Legends. If you've ever watched The Untamed, he dubbed Jin Guangyao. He also is the main dubber for Zeng Shunxi's characters.
To each their own, but while I love Miles' real voice, I also thought Su Shangqing's voice suited his character here.
Finished this and thought the ending was a bit rushed but enjoyed it overall. I would've preferred if the writers fleshed out a few parts and gave more romantic scenes to our leads but I think they still managed to develop their relationship well.
The music performances were also really beautiful.
I also looked at Lu Zhaohua's (Huang Ying) profile because I particularly enjoyed how intense she looked while she played the pipa. Turns out in real life she plays ruan, an instrument that was originally called pipa in ancient times. Thought this was interesting!

Gotta say the plot isn't anything new (it's a remake of a 2005 drama after all) but the music is absolutely exquisite.
This is a remake of that drama, albeit a historical romcom version but most of the characters have retained similar names.
So far this one is enjoyable.
