Title Hidden Blade
If you're not familiar with the time period or don't usually watch dramas/films from this part of history, I recommend reading up on it before watching this movie.

My feelings about this movie is rather neutral. It's not a bad movie by any means but I don't feel that it offered something different from all the spy dramas/movies from this era that I've watched. That's just the plot and writing. Of course the acting from Tony Leung is phenomenal. When does he never deliver, right? The ladies, though their scenes were extremely short, were also amazing. Yibo did well for his role here.

Why would there be an article? What does it prove? It doesn't take away the fact that the title is still in English and that her remarks are hypocritical and rude.

Imagine if we said the same thing about Western dramas, that English and other Western languages are so beautiful and that translating it into Japanese would lose the meanings, so we want people who understand English to watch...I'm sure people in Japan would be upset by that too. But it's OK for her to say this? どう考えてもおかしいじゃないですか?

She doesn't need to be interested in Korean or any other foreign dramas, but she has a very narrow-minded view and maybe didn't do her research. Perhaps that's why she doesn't understand what translators do and how hard they work to preserve the author's original meanings. That's also why she doesn't know that Meguro-san has a huge overseas fanbase and that his agency is trying to include such fans.

Now some of his fans and Jdrama fans don't want to watch the drama because Ubukata said she didn't intend to create this drama for foreigners. It's quite disappointing. I will continue to support this drama but only for the cast and crew, not for the writer.

She is not only insulting overseas fans but translators (many of them have spoken about this on twitter) and most importantly, Kawaguchi-san and Meguro-san who have thanked translators for their hard work.

I wish Ubukata good luck in the future and hope she doesn't become a 視野が狭い脚本家.

This is my last response about this issue.

Even if she doesn't say that she doesn't want foreigners to watch it, she still says that she's not happy about the overseas release. That already says a lot about what she thinks. She doesn't need to outright say that she doesn't want foreigners to watch it. It's also bold and rude of her to assume that we foreigners won't be able to understand Japanese good enough to understand the characters and feelings.

On a professional level, she hasn't considered the translation team who is working so hard on this drama so that we overseas fans can watch. If she has a problem with her work being translated/distributed overseas then she should talk to FujiTV.

Sure I understand that she believes many things are lost in translation. But has she considered that she, a person who is not deaf, may be translating a lot of things incorrectly? It's very strange of her to make such remarks when she has no idea what it's like to live as a deaf person.

And if she wants Japanese people to watch it because the Japanese language is so beautiful, why name it "silent"? Use a Japanese title!

Where do you watch it?
I've read the manga too and the drama is very close to it, like a lot of the dialogue. There are some minor changes.

Sou's mom is literally the 3rd cast member on MDL, i wonder why??? I hope she doesn't create unnecessary difficulty…
It's probably because she's a veteran actress and a bigger name than the rest of the supporting cast.

Why does he leave at the end of ep 8 after she says she likes him? Is he afraid of causing her trauma if she remembers?…
From my observations, he still thinks he caused her accident and probably doesn't know how to face her. I don't think he ever thought of getting back together with her even when he breaks up with his girlfriend. For him, it's enough to be friends with her and love her from afar. As to why he leaves, I think he wants to give being a pilot another try. Perhaps he doesn't think being in Japan will help him with his career. Or maybe he wants to fulfill her dream of traveling the world. That's my observation. Another reason might be knowing that she is happy now with her son and her life, so he can leave knowing that she is living happily.

I must say this drama is better to be watched twice. There are a lot of scenes that will become better after you…
I think people who don't understand the drama should read your list. It's these details and symbolism that make this drama so wonderful.

Jdramas are always rated lower on this site for whatever reason. It's disappointing.
I don't watch kdramas but a lot of cdramas are overrated. Not sure why but I hardly find jdramas that are overrated.

Often times a drama that takes forever to air end up being disappointing when you finally watch it.

It's not the case here. This was well worth the wait! Loved every episode of this and the cast they chose to play these complex characters were perfect.

I'm not usually convinced that people are still in love with their first partners in dramaland. There's usually not enough scenes to convince me. Here? It's too easy to understand why first love is the most unforgettable.

To anyone who is watching or has read the second part of the novel: based on the cast list so now Jozuka works…
Finished ep 1. Chiwasaki has always been her assistant. She should be working with Kaneba again. Kogetsu shouldn't be in the 2nd part unless they have flashbacks or if he makes a guest appearance. The story in this part takes place 6 months after the last episode of part 1.

They did. The first part covers the cases in the first book and Invert is the second book.
Hope you can finish soon and join the second part viewing!
