I rarely ever watch Wuxia/Xianxia dramas as I never make it through the first 10 episodes, but I can tell this one's different. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would, and two of the things I'm loving most is the beautiful chemistry between the main leads and the FL's character, which is a quite unpopular opinion as I can tell. Xuan Ji can quite get on people's nerves for being dumb, but her character has a sort of essence which makes her so likeable despite of having the most character traits of your usual 'cheerful but annoying' FLs in C-dramas. It could be because she doesn't have the six senses, but nevertheless, she has a really sweet character you can't hate no matter what. However, as I'm still in the first half in the show, I kind of don't like the supporting characters e.g Xuan Ji's sister and the 6th senior guy. They are supposed to be 20 year olds, but they act like pre-schoolers all the time lmao. But anyways, I'm really enjoying this show and I'm quite thankful that I gave this a try. Totally looking forward to finishing it, unlike how I usually tend to drop shows that are longer than 20 episodes.
I'm 100% sure I'll feel SLS too like y'all considering all the clips I've already seen but I'll still begin watching this because I'm looking for something that'll get my blood boiling lmao
many comments already said the same thing but damn, you can't deny that the poster looks absolutely stunning. I hope the main poster looks the same as this one.
ngl NJH should stay away from dramas with love triangles. Literally all his dramas that featured love triangles had me despising his character every time lmaooo
Nicely written article, but I feel that characters like Jang Man Wol, Go Moon Young or Cheon Song Yi etc. are turning into another k-drama stereotype FL— mean to ppl other than the ML, and that is justified and sold as a ‘badass’ female lead through making them rich and fashionable. I’m sure if they weren’t rich and had expensive wardrobe but instead were poor and dressed like normal people, they wouldn’t have been considered quirky, sassy or ‘badass’ but rather annoying and rude lol.
I’d also put Goo Se Ra from ‘Into The Ring’ in this list, because she is personally my favorite female lead character.
This BL is so wholesome, I love watching this every week-- it's like a serotonin. And, I wish every other BL had such considerate, mature and lovable leads like this. It's definitely worth waiting for 7 days every week for a 20-minute episode.
When I started this drama, I was sure I'd drop it because I never tend to finish C-dramas as they're too long for my taste. However, this is a delightful surprise! Despite that there many scenes that I skip (the ones with the secondary couple-- the actors are great but their story is really boring) the main couple and their scenes together and individually are great to watch. Esp when they're together. The leads have a really natural and lovely chemistry between them, and their characters are really well-written too. Especially the ML. His character is not like the MLs in other similar C-dramas. He's funny, charming, caring and despite all that's good, he also has realistic imperfections that makes him a better written character. The FL is great too-- she is smart, mature, and she knows how to hold her own back unlike other c-drama FLs who all tend to be extremely annoying.
Now the biggest downside? The fact that the FL is supposed to have an average income yet we see her use Burberry and YSL bags on a regular basis lmao.
Based on the first episode, this seems totally unnatural. It feels like they're just trying really hard to satisfy the fans who were disappointed at what happened at the later episodes of the first season. Like, they didn't wait for an year to come out with a sequel. Seems like nothing but fan service to me. (p.s- and so much focus on product placement at the very first ep already smh)
Just in case if some of you are hesitating to watch this for the ratings, here's a little review of mine :) Oh My Baby was one of the very few dramas I genuinely enjoyed so far this year. The main couple is great and there's no SLS, the comedy is top-notch and it delivers many beautiful messages to the viewers as well with its unique plot. However, the last few episodes were a little hard to watch as it dragged quite a bit, where I wish they showed us more progress about the main subject of the story. All in all, the first 10-12 episodes were an absolute delight with many sweet, funny but also many touching and realistic moments. Plus- you will most probably fall in love with the male lead, he's def one of the best I've seen in a K-drama ><
So, is this actually being released on August 22? I saw an article a few days ago where it said that season 2 is postponed and won't come out this year due to COVID-19.
This comment section is so positive, I always end up coming here because it's so satisfying to see everyone being so excited and happy for a drama without being all overly obsessed with the drama's ratings and popularity, like every other drama comment sections these days.
Dude, this comment section gives me such a headache lol I’m pretty sure ppl won’t watch Ji Chang Wook’s next dramas. After MMS, we thought maybe this would be just the single time he starred in a bad drama. But man, he botched his career, big time.
Jae Young is literally the most effed up k-drama character I've seen in a long time! I absolutely dislike how he's obviously an evil character but the show tries to make him seem sympathetic and shows him under a positive light with all the emotional music and shots. One moment he's saying that he won't bother HaRi's love life because he cares for her and whatnot, but then the next thing he does is barge into her bf's house to tell him to break up lol. I knew Jae Young would be my least fave ever since he changed his kid's diapers in the STREET.
Apologies for the rant, just needed to let that out XD
