E4. Kagome is HANDS DOWN my favourite character in this drama. I freaking love her & teared up because I related to her so much. Her friendship with Towako is so precious & I want to see more of these two women & their friendship. Sakamato Yuji knows how to hit you where it hurts. What a genius! Gonna be repetitive here, but I really enjoy how they collaborate with a different rapper each week for the ending song, it is so so refreshing. I never skip it.
6.9 seriously?! This was adorable through and through. A really entertaining and heartwarming drama with sweet and endearing characters. It made me laugh so much. There was not a single dull moment. The brothers may be overprotective, but they're not evil. I freaking LOVED this family and all the characters. Don't judge based on the first two episodes. Watch it for what it is and you'll come to love and enjoy this simple sweet story.
I am surprised how many people love Secret like me, and quote it as a reference in the love hate genre. I have…
These are some more hate to love dramas you can check out :) Kenja No Ai (Japan) Behind Your Smile (Taiwan) Watashitachi wa Douka Shiteiru (Japan) Sealed With A Kiss (China) My Forever Sunshine (Thailand) Green Rose (Korean)
I feel you, I always rewatch this bc these days dramas aren’t like this anymore and I miss park shin hye with…
Have you seen Stairway to Heaven? Shin Hye had scenes with Lee Wan the first few episodes (very similar to this one). The director saw their chemistry in that & casted them for this drama.
in case you still need the subs for Gift, they are available on d-addicts https://www.d-addicts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=51651however…
Yes I did find it a month back.. just haven't updated this list yet hehe. Thank you so much! Btw I finished watching Nojima Shinji's 'In the Name of Love' and it was nice.
This had me all excited LOOOOLI trust Japan to do this well.
I really liked Kou Kou Kyoushi (1993) but yeah I know it's not a drama for everyone. That OST is one of my favourites! I plan to watch the 2003 version soon :)
Some things I'd love to point out -I appreciate how they handled the whole issue with the pregnancy. It was done…
So the fact that he isn't in financial difficulty is what I find unrealistic, because Tokyo is a very expensive city & the way he works I honestly don't think he earns much. But ok it's such a small quibble I have with this drama.
Unlike other Asian dramas, Japanese dramas are fan subbed. The subber is doing us a service by subbing it for…
I don't think that Asian audiences do not know / do not watch Japanese dramas. On MDL itself, I see constant stereotyping of J dramas being anime-like or J actors not knowing how to act. Like so many people see 1 bad J drama or 1 drama with anime-like acting, and they brand all J dramas to be like that. These kind of comments can be found on so many pages unfortunately. Like people have an image of Japanese dramas being bad. It bothered me so much when I was new here, but now I am used to it.
I must admit that as much as I love the 2 pairings & the 4 main characters, I wasn't feeling this show much in E5/E6, but I loved E7. Maybe it's the more introspective & heavier tone that the show took, which for me really did justice to the juncture we're at. I think I can finally see where this show is trying to go (which wasn't clear to me the past few episodes). In essence, it's a journey of self-love & growth.
Meguru is so precious. He is so innocent & warm in a way that we're only used to seeing female characters on TV be. I love how Yuu Tan was like I'll destroy you, and Meguru is like I'm not even well-known enough so how will you do it & Yuu Tan couldn't answer LMAO. Wise people were not wrong when they said kill them with kindness :) I really disliked Yuu Tan at the beginning of the episode, but felt a lot of empathy for him by the end of the episode. Everybody is trying their very best, and struggling in their own ways, regardless of how they appear which brings me to that line Asahi said casually about how you won't know someone unless you speak to them.
The way Wako came around to realising that protecting Meguru isn't about stopping him from going out of his comfort zone for the fear of danger, rather it is being by his side when he needs the comfort, was BEAUTIFUL. How is their relationship so much more real, wholesome & beautiful than actual romance-centric dramas?
So many amazing quotes this episode, "the heart of a person is not one colour", "you can always aim for the cool visual you want to be" etc I could go on but in essence I love the theme of self love that was so so beautifully portrayed in this episode. I think it was my favourite episode so far.
Kira & Asahi continue to charm me with their interactions. They're surprisingly mature, despite appearing childish at times, esp Kira. That scene of them at the press conference was EVERYTHING gosh I love them so much *fangirls*
The leads are adorable & endearing in similar ways. This is shaping up to be a cute little rom com & that role reversal is refreshing. The gap between Takamine's inner voice & outer voice is huge & just so hilarious. I can't get used to it, and it amazes me all the way till the 6th episode hehe YOWAAAAAAAAKI KUNNNNNNNNN XD
