Cut her some slack. She's a teenager. Also it was her first time being in a relationship. There is a reason why…
I guess to each his own. While I am close to 30 & nowhere near your or Mairu's age, I work with a lot of teens & I would say that I see many of them present similar issues.
Also in a country like Japan (or even some countries in SEA where I live), not having a boyfriend when you are close to 17 is ridiculed. It is an important source of validation and popularity. Thus the high rates of girls who get sexually active in their teens & end up in host clubs, or pregnancy & what not.
Mairu is also coming from the background of having been looked down for her appearance so it is normal (regardless of her age) to want to look for external sources of validation when she started to gain confidence in her looks.
Whether is teen or adults, trust me everybody knows rebound is bad but a lot of people do it nonetheless because they want to fill the void the previous relationship left. Mairu afterall only experienced love for the first time. Again I am speaking of this from experience because I see this day in & day out in my job.
I don't think what she did was stupid. What she did was emotional.
Won't comment on her tackiness - that's your view and I respect that even though I don't agree.
The show didn't make it clear. But I remember Mum mentioning that grandpa had an affair with a student while teaching.…
It's an interesting dilemma I'm facing with Grandpa.
Agreed, he's the only person who seems genuinely respectful & allows Mokomi to be who she is (without judgment), but at the same time, this very non-judgmental & free attitude of his went on to hurt his family when he had the affair.
Makes me realise how all of us have double standards. We don't want Mokomi to be judged but we judge Grandpa. I do appreciate that the nature of the instances are different. Grandpa's act was a mistake while Mokomi is not outrightly harming anyone. But still.. we tend to advocate non-judgment when our values are not in question. But the moment we have contradicting values, we condone / condemn another's actions.
Maybe Grandma really didn't have a problem & understood Grandpa? If that is the case, who are we to judge him really? Also it could very well be that the student seduced him first?
Idk ultimately we are all human the same.. and deserve love (maybe not from everyone, but from at least one person who can understand even when the whole world doesn't)
Im not gonna continue watching this show. I was rooting for the FL but then she cheated. It is really evident that…
Cut her some slack. She's a teenager. Also it was her first time being in a relationship. There is a reason why teens are said to be most prone to making mistakes & why it is known as a phase when kids tend to grow up.
She definitely didn't mean to cheat, but the break up was so new that she ended up responding to Naru's kiss. Of course I am not excusing her behaviour but at the end of the day, I appreciated her development in E6 when she decided to give herself time & not get into a relationship anymore. She wanted love so bad after her break up (which is normal) that she jumped into Mirai's arms when his confession came. Even then, I appreciated that she deliberated over it.
She is definitely not spineless. She owned up to her mistakes, didn't blame anyone & spoke to both guys honestly in E6. She hated herself for it, but she was courageous to move on & not engage in self pity or blame.
I don't see how she is tacky either. I don't personally like this word because it looks down on another person on the basis of their outer appearance.
Hoping for no unnecessary s*x scenes and then this season will be perfect
Why do so many people make it sound like the show had a lot of sex scenes? It really just had one sex scene & I don't think it was unnecessary. The sex scene wasn't even explicit. The woman wanted control & manipulated him through sex so that he would surrender to her. Desperate times call for desperate measures, as we all know.
1) I started out hating the mom but I now feel so much sympathy for her. Don't get me wrong, she still has many…
Couldn't agree more. At this point, the only thing that can save this show is the ending with all of them going separate ways. They better not shove the happy family ideal down our throats.
E9. My rating has dropped to a 6.5 I can officially say that the writing of this show has been such a disappointment in the second half. I am just going to finish this because there is only 1 episode left.
This show seriously needed to give each character in the family time to show their backstories for us to appreciate where they are right now. Like each character's story is so vague & half-baked.
While I don't approve of Grandpa's affair, I do wish we had more info on it because the family's (excluding the mother) reaction to it is weird? It's not just something stupid or silly you know. Heck it's not even a mistake? It appears to be a conscious choice that Grandpa made, which ended up hurting everybody.
Shinuske's issue. Honestly at this point I don't even know what his real issue is? It was like a one week rebellion & build up that led to nowhere.
The father & his dream to move. HUH?! You don't just move you know. There are so many processes & things that are involved in moving. What about your family? Their career? Father's source of income? Their dreams? Also the fact that the family doesn't seem happy about the move seems pointless to the father. He is just doing as he pleases.
Mum is just constantly making noise over everybody's problems but ignores her own controlling behaviour.
Mokomi and her so called gift finally made clear. You're telling me it's a supernatural power? Why wasn't this revealed earlier & explored more in depth? It would have worked so much better to have this be a psychological issue instead. Also I must say that Mokomi has been such a one note goody-goody character. The saving grace was the actress who is really endearing.
The ideal ending (at this point) for this show would be a BIG showdown & all of them just going separate ways. That would be the one thing that would make sense. Please don't give me the happy family crap at the end.
Can someone confirm, gramps had an affair with a FORMER student right? As in an adult he once used to teach?
The show didn't make it clear. But I remember Mum mentioning that grandpa had an affair with a student while teaching. I don't think it was a former student. It was most likely a minor, thus Mum's disgust at Grandpa & inability to carry on her own teaching career from which she was asked to resign.
This is like a Hallmark movie; warm, fuzzy & romantic! The Christmas backdrop was an icing on the cake. Probably the BEST shoujo romantic movie I have seen.

I'm just rambling...

I went back to watch E4 & you are right. The subs specifically mentioned 'former student' which I might have missed.
I skipped to E5 and you are right again that Mum could have been a teacher if she wanted to, but she didn't want all the ridicule.
One thing that is not clear is the former student's age. She could have just passed out of high school or could be older.

Takahashi Issei, as always, exudes charm & makes you fall in love with him.
