Off-topic, but one poster mentioned a concern that Aoi and Sora would be interested in the same person? I haven't…
Not at all. 3 episodes in, and nope they don't like the same person. It was there for a short while in E1 or E2 (I forgot) but it was quashed pretty quickly.
I've seen Hanbun, Aoi! I really liked it :) This drama's writer is one of my favourites. I've seen most of her work.
I tried to run today. Gave up in 5 minutes. I walked then I ran again. I lasted 7 minutes the next time. I walked…
Wow that's great! Thanks to 'Run On' I also went running last week. Didn't go again after that though hehe. Your comment is encouraging! BTW, we're watching so many of the same shows currently.
I liked this (minus that ending, WTF was that?). It was different from the original versions but it captured the essence of Hana Yori Dango/Meteor Garden 2001. I appreciated its difference, and the changes they made to not only suit modern day, but to audiences who found the leads frustrating in the original versions & manga. Haruto, despite being toned down & child-like, and Oto, despite being less daring & taking the time to come around, were more sincere & mature versions of the leads in the original versions. Their relationship was definitely healthier, unlike the other versions. I could appreciate the ambiguous nature of their relationship in this one (something that always troubled me in the original versions). The acting and soundtrack were decent as well.
Having said that, this does not have the magic of the original Meteor Garden 2001 or HYD, which swept me off my feet when the overbearing ML fell so hard for the FL who refused to give in till the end. Nonetheless, I really liked this & would recommend this to everyone who has watched the original. Everyone should enjoy this for what it is, and not compare this to HYD/Meteor Garden 2001.
Because her maturity level is that of a child, and she seemed incapable of doing basic things that an adult would know. It's like the ML babysits her. That is creepy.
I disagree. There are still a lot of nice romantic J dramas from the recent years - In This Corner of the World, Neechan No Koibito, Remolove, Kono Koi Atatamemasu Ka, Todome No Kiss, Perfect World, Boku Dake ga 17-sai no Sekai de, Takane No Hana, Cherry Magic and so many more.. i just listed those at the top of my head.

THEY KISSED SO MANY TIMES eeeekss <3 Also, why didn't they use this angle in the actual episode? Like in this BTS, you can really see them kissing & it seemed longer compared to what was shown in the drama
I must admit that I struggled to finish this. I absolutely love J dramas from the 90s and I really wanted to love this, but I couldn't.
It was a very simple story and had simple characters. It wasn't too dramatic, and neither were characters very dramatic or unlikeable. I rooted for the ML, and really loved him. The leads were also sweet. But having said all that, what made this difficult for me to love were a few things -
(1) It was somewhat unrealistic with Konouske barging into Harashima's office whenever he wanted. Dude he is a Chairman for goodness sake.
(2) The most problematic thing about the show - the scriptwriting was weak in that it was too preachy. I appreciate the message that 'money can't buy happiness' but at times, I almost felt like Konouske was trying to force Harashima into accepting this, without being empathetic to Hirashima's values & how he grew up. Yes, Konouske wasn't teaching Harashima anything bad but it was the way that it was executed that put me off at times.
(3) Konouske's character - yes he is a nice guy but at times, it almost felt like he was just being ignorant, and I have zero tolerance for people who laugh & downplay a conversation when the other is being serious. He did that many times. Also, I get that he trusted people, but just signing on someone's debts because you look into his eyes and feel that he can't be a bad person? Dude get real. Poor writing IMO. You can present someone nice and too trusting, without making the person appear dumb.
(4) This could easily have been 8 episodes IMO, with more crisp writing.
Having said all that, it really wasn't a bad drama. Maybe I was too harsh as well. It had a certain simplicity & charm that is missing in today's world. Watch this if you're looking for something uncomplicated, and light.
