True , she’s getting better though, she’s improved dramatically since “Go Ahead”. Absolutely loved that drama but the kisses were hideous 🙈.

It was tender, soft, gentle, and sincere. It was perfect and fitting for this style of drama. This is a family drama not an idol drama. It was well-suited for TSY too. I don’t feel she does well with spicy kiss scenes. So, this toned-down kissing really made her look good. I think the Director was smart to do it like this.

Is the novel overtly Buddhist/Taoist? As a non-Buddhist/Taoist, I was oblivious to these points and symbolism in the drama. How were you able to discern these things?

It was a clever and strategic way to give the viewers what they want but still pass censorship. I liked it. All very well done.👍🏾😄🥰💪🏽😘

One episode a day is the only way I can get any work done around the house. 🏡 It forces me to cut the tv or tablet off and do some laundry or something. Otherwise, I would be on my sofa 🛋️ for hours on end. I already am actually. 😐🤭😅. These dramas are too addicting.

To me, there was zero romance in Story of Ming Lan. Their relationship made zero sense to me. But, I enjoyed the drama overall.

Nope, that’s a good thing. This drama is on a high level. That’s a good thing. This isn’t merely surface-level at all.

BTW, I liked the kisses in this drama. Very tender and beautifully done. TSY is a wonderful actress but kisses—not so much. Here, however, she looked really great in the kiss scenes. The Director did great! LXY really impressed here too. He’s a good actor—a mature actor. He can do sexy kissing, but he can also do tender, gentle, sincere kissing (which was what this was). Really beautiful, I thought.

I need to rewatch this episode because I missed a lot of details. It wasn’t a clear and straightforward episode. Yet, it was a very critical episode, a turning-point episode. A commenter once said that this drama is for smart people because there’s a lot of stuff that one has to infer and figure out.

He hurts her so as to protect himself? That doesn’t vibe well with me. He seems like a man who wants closeness with a woman he likes but doesn’t want to admit it and take responsibility for it. He basically said, ‘I like you, but I don’t LIKE-you like you.’ What kinda BS is that? He draws a line with her, yet constantly runs after her, comforts her, guides her, stirs feelings in her, HAS feelings for her, but says ‘I don’t like you like that. I just want a strong colleague who I can use one day.’ This guy—😐. It would have been better to say, ‘I like you, but I’m not able to be in relationship right now because of whatever whatever.’ What he’s doing now is messing with her head and her heart. She’s a strong one to put on a nonchalant face when she’s clearly struggling with the ambiguity of this relationship.

That was her parents’ home in the same complex as Mr. Lu and the Hans, right? They were just there visiting her parents in that scene.
