Actor Chang Long playing Li Boren is always one of my favorites in a drama. Always the comedy relief 😅 giving me nice chuckles here and there.

He was able to work out the issues with his agent and stayed in the biz after all. So, he didn’t really retire.

She’s gorgeous. She resembles Sophia Loren a bit to me.

Old-school Kdrama vibes like from the 2014/2016/2017 era—zany, contrived plot requiring skinship for literal survival and a contract to lock in the deal, selfish obnoxious CEO, poor sweet innocent 😇 FL, two second leads pining away—who will turn evil 😈 probably. I like it. Not my fave leads, but it’s watchable with nice chuckles 🤭 here-and-there and predictable tropes and whatnot. It’s fun 😄.

Also, the way she helped undress and bathe him —merely wifely duties? I think not. There was love in the way she attended to him and conversed with him as she looked over his scars while bathing his back. She cared for him.

Someone explain the final situation with Xiuru after the Marquis died please. The Yuan family was trying to invalidate the Marquis’s wish to give his daughters property. What came of that? Did the girls’ get their inheritance? How was Xiuru able to extricate herself from the Yuan family?

Beautiful drama. I would have liked more affectionate, sweet and funny moments between Jinqi and Lanxiang, but I still loved seeing them together serving as a united rock and anchor for the family. The final Lady Du arc needed better development. It was too abrupt and over-the-top. The latter quarter of the drama’s storytelling was less robust than the first half. I felt like we were getting the cliff notes in the latter part rather than the full story. Still, a very beautiful drama. Jinqi’s enduring love for Lanxiang was —I have no words, just chef’s kiss 😘perfection. Liu Xue Yi absolutely deserves an award for that last scene in the final episode. It was mesmerizing.
