Can someone explain who Changxuan’s Yu Army is fighting please? Who is the enemy—the Japanese? Or, is there infighting within the Chinese territories/warlords themselves? Was Xueying a spy for the Japanese? I am not understanding the military details of this drama at all.

I can tell that Changxuan is trying to clean up the corruption within the Yu Army. I at least understand that much. Who’s working against him though and why?
