I’m guessing that the mom is ML’s stepmother. It would make zero sense that she’s his biological mom as both ML and SML are the same age.

They were in different colleges, even though at the same university. It’s not likely their paths would have crossed much, especially the parents. But maybe, in fact, WP did somehow go searching for his mother and discovered the truth of his stepbrother long ago.

Not too sure Professor’s Yu strategy of directly confronting WP was smart. I hope she doesn’t end up dead next.
