ML probably feels guilty towards his wife for their first life because he showed interest in another woman which hurt his wife. He never tried to fix it or comfort her. So, she in turn, feeling betrayed, took a lover, that scheming Su Rongquin(sp?) She’s crazy blind when it comes to Su. Makes no sense.

The person she “cheated” with was castrated . So, I don’t think it was a physical relationship. (I could be wrong.) But, true, it was an emotional relationship. She felt betrayed by her husband; so, she turned to another man. It’s a sad situation.
Very good drama. The visuals are excellent. At episode 3. There’s a bit of humor here and there, but realistic in its depiction of how misunderstandings, insensitivity, and lack of communication tear down a marriage. Reminds me of “Queen of Tears.” Very interested to see how (if) this couple turns things around. Both leads are bringing maturity to the roles despite their youth. Good acting.
However, the FL’s 18 yr-old self and her 38 yr-old self look exactly the same. The makeup artist should have done something differently to create a stronger distinction. The age difference was clear though with the ML. I barely even recognized Zhang Ling He as a “40 yr old” with that facial hair.
Did we get that kiss and hug scene with them in blue? ( the one we have in the photos above)
Honestly, I don’t remember. The kisses we did get were underwhelming and unsatisfying. Great drama and chemistry, but a total miss for me as far as skinship. Director, do better. Learn from “Story of Kunning Palace.”

They’re trying to make him a sympathetic character. But, he’s trash no matter how you slice it. He threw his wife in a pit and buried her alive. I do wonder, however, if he built in a means for her to escape. How in the world was she able to dig her way out? Anywho, he’s in survival mode. Disclosing Jiang Li’s true identity would not help him at all right now. He mostly cares about himself, with maybe the tiniest morsel of regret towards Xue Fangfei. He chose his path. As bad as the princess is to him, he seems to dig being a sub for that demented dominatrix.
