I can’t think of a Cdrama like that, but “Don't Dare to Dream” Kdrama is kinda like that.

He puts her down, accused her of being lazy, wanting to take a cushy job that her family got her instead of working hard to get a job on her own. These are cheap shots borne out of his insecurity because he’s poor. He probably has delusions that he’s saying this for her own good to make her a better person. (She’s already a good person. She doesn’t need his help with that. She’s very sweet and down-to-earth. But, he won’t acknowledge that.) In reality, he’s just being deliberately hurtful. He regrets pushing her away which he admitted to himself he purposely did. He purposely hurt her in order to keep distance between them—again , all because he feels he isn’t her social/financial equal. He let Rong and the others bully her time and time again. He’s too quick and ready to believe the worst of her and spouts harsh words to her.

Enjoyable watch, but I’m not really seeing the simmering, slowburn chemistry that I should. The acting isn’t convincing me. Their banter is more buddies energy than hot simmering slowburn. Of course, his character has to play it cool because of their jobs and he doesn’t want to scare her. But, even with all the not-so-subtle clues that he’s putting out there that he’s into her, it just doesn’t give me butterflies. That’s just me though. Maybe y’all are getting all the feels and butterflies. Still, a pleasant drama. I have no plans to drop at all.

He’s probably wondering why NXG never checked on him after his accident enroute to her gathering, nor remembers anything about him especially when she supposedly invited him in first place. Of course, we assume that it’s a case of mistaken identity. It wasn’t NXG at all who invited LYS to the party. The exact details of how the misunderstanding happened haven’t been revealed yet as of ep 10.

I feel like his family is richer. He’s definitely 3rd Generation rich. But, she is 2nd Generation rich. Then, again, she might be 3rd Generation rich on her mother’s side. They are well-matched in social/financial status. And, he’s into her big time. I love it.

But, Lin said that NXG will be “his future boss.” Wonder what he meant by that. Maybe her family will be richer, more dominant one day. Or, maybe it’s an allusion to being the wifey one day.

SML is a gaslighting SOB. Ughh, this guy.

He sees her as part owner of the company given her family owns 49% shares. He seems to be gently pushing her into a leadership role. He even called her “his future boss.”

So many characters mentioned that 2ML is soooo extremely handsome. I’m baffled. I’m just not seeing it. Was this actor the right person to convey “extremely handsome”? 🤔

This drama so far is pretty light (a pretty standard romance drama rife with misunderstandings and a naive FL, her silly friends, and an impossibly handsome ML). But, interestingly this simple drama has stirred a lot of deep conversation and observations in the comments. It’s great for an easy fun watch.

An outstanding modern drama with depth is “Light Beyond the Reed.” Very heavy subject matter. Beautiful romance though.

“Wild Bloom” with Zhao Li Ying is another outstanding modern drama of substance. She won Best Actress for it.

For trivial matters, sure, share with your friends. For weighty serious matters, I would only share with a mature wise person like my father (or mother if she were still alive).

It’s always interesting and annoying to me when FL characters confide all their business to their besties. Who does this in real life?? I sure as hell don’t. I’m like, girl, keep your business to yourself. Oversharing is not wise. But, then again, if she didn’t blab her whole life and get love advice from her besties, then we wouldn’t have a show, now would we?
