Cheng Yi with white hair looks awesome. Kuddo to team that did his hair.
Cheng Yi in anything looks awesome too. I haven’t even seen Love and Redemption, I saw him in an episode of Happy Camp and he’s so modest and hard working, really different from any attention seeking idols. That was the moment I became his number 100 Stan. I can’t be number 1 because going on mydramalist is the extent of my stanning, haha.

So despite Yan Dan changing her voice, Ying Yuan still recognized her. So I guess things will go wrong after she…
I’m trying to piece it together from clips too. Is it that you can be punished with death in the immortal sect for falling in love and yan dan is too obvious about it? There’s hesitation from him in the cliff scene
Annoyed at the voice dubbing! Cheng Yi is one of the few, like Luo Yun Xi or Allen Ren who have beautiful voices for classical dramas. If I’m not mistaken they’ve used the same voice actor who does Vengo Gao’s di Jun character in The Pillow Book.
He was an excellent dramatic actor in Novoland:Pearl Eclipse. Disappointed to see him in something as silly again as Love is an Accident. The fact that he could hold his own in Pearl Eclipse against such seasoned actors should have established him as better than bad romcoms.
And I’m not demeaning romcoms, I LOVE romcoms, I just think he’s better suited to drama. And I don’t think Xing Fei is a particularly accomplished actress. I enjoy watching her, but she is limited.
I know AR voice is dubbed, I can’t tell who it is and I hate that it is - I really can’t understand the whole…
That’s interesting, I didn’t realise AR is usually dubbed. I have seen him in Forever and Ever and it matched him very well.
But I think for each drama it’s an issue of cost and/or the skill of the actor.
Like someone mentioned, background sound is a huge problem, so most dramas are dubbed, and it is much cheaper to hire a voice actor than take up the original actor’s time.
In other cases, the actor’s voice is not good enough (usually for historical dramas it’s an issue). Take TMoPB for example, Yang Mi has a high pitched voice (sort of grates), whereas Mark Chao not only has a Taiwanese accent, his voice is also not deep enough. They needed voice actors. Also, I’ve heard directors mention that historical dialogue is often complex, and they can easily fix slip ups through dubbing.
Interestingly, Luo Yun Xi has a beautiful classical voice. So directors allow him to dub his own characters.
Also will say this Chinese dramas must stop using BLACK PEOPLE if you will make them look stupid what was that…
She’s probably an extra. Extras apply for the job, and they may or may not be in the shot. My brother was on a film set for a day and there is literally 5 seconds of him in the background. The fact she is black is neither here nor there. Wouldn’t it be more awkward if they focussed on her for 5 minutes just because she was black?
As food lover I was looking forward to this drama. On top of that I really enjoyed Ethan’s acting in Legend…
I wasted my time by watching 40 episodes. So upset! To be fair to myself, I ffw a lot of it.
Ethan Ruan is a brilliant actor, but the character and story was poor. There was too much happening to him, he was humourless and ‘complicated’ (trauma overload) it was hard to imagine him being in love. I kept ffw to see the romance and there was barely any. I didn’t feel any chemistry either.
But maybe I can’t get into these tv uncle-young girl relationships because it makes me uncomfortable when the FL is innocent to the point of being child-like and the uncle is well, an uncle.
Is this a sci-fi cdrama that is actually comparable to international standard dramas? I love cdramas, but many of them lack the polish (script and production values) of kdramas/Netflix.
Not that it would stop me watching, but it does make me hesitate to recommend them to asian drama newbies.
This is the first time I’ve seen the comedic trailer! I wonder if anyone else missed it. I love it.

Had to share my excitement!
