I agree that, as of now, I feel like FR doesn't have a protagonist's "spark." Her personality *is* very cute,…
I’m on episode 7 and I don’t like the FL either. So far I’m getting ‘obnoxious, self-centred and stupid’ rather than ‘plucky and cute’.
Right now we’re at the bit where she’s begging Official Dong to save her master’s life and she just seems thick as two short planks. Why does she think an official will change his mind with no evidence just because she looks upset and does a whiny voice? It doesn’t show bravery , it’s annoying and bratty.
This whole show is also poorly cut and overly complicated. Seems a big rushed?Although that being said I really enjoy watching it, haha. It’s like a fan service to LYX fans and I’m very grateful as I loved the story and characters in that. And despite the FL annoying me, her chemistry with the ML is still there, the story is fast paced and I like the second couple. Face mask man is lame though and rather than giving out tortured genius kind-soul vibes just sort of creeps me out instead. And I can’t work out if he’s the Prince we saw a couple of episodes ago in palace. I just need that character chart someone said they made!
i obviously cant stand du lei i was tryna keep it neutral but he just annoys me and his facial expressions irk…
I think Kido Gao is a really good actor. He can make DL normal but cold at work, but also shows DL when he’s on edge and uncomfortable through his erratic expressions and reactions. Repressed unloved child is really evident. Kido Gao is normal in other shows, so the weird expressions are not his normal face!
I remember at the beginning LF told WY that he was best suited to director because he was willing to sacrifice himself.
At that point, WY was unsuited because he was ambitious, happy and had his blossoming relationship with QH. Now, WY has nothing to lose, so he’s best placed to be the director of Wulin and make the sacrifice LF was talking about. That’s why I think he will die. I mean, i haven’t watched properly since ep12 (waiting to see if happy ending and then I’ll binge) but I think he’s director now, or in charge anyway? If not, scrap my comment!
I just watched ep 36 proposal preview. OMG! He shouldn’t be so amazing or she’ll cry!
I only skimmed most recent episodes, but it looks like they argue and fight like a normal couple. They don’t try to break up if they disagree. I love them!
I usually have high tolerance for controlling CEO type. Even some of my favourite dramas include them. But they…
I think I found it in ep 2. He says to her ‘when other girls encounter problems, they cry and can then let it go/move on’. But i can see how it could be badly translated to mean ‘other girls... they cry and it’s sorted out .’
The last phrase can either mean ‘let it go’ or ‘settled.’ In this context though it means ‘let it go.’

I’m Chinese, so if you point me to where you think he said that I can translate. I have looked back at eps 1 and 2 and he doesn’t say that as far as I can see. It would be inconsistent with the ML’s character to say that, as QN is his right hand woman.

Actually, it is just a fact that women make up a smaller proportion of investment banking roles. It is incredibly aggressive, confrontational and demanding as a sector. I took him to just mean that. He treats Qiao Na as his equal and she’s a woman.
Also, he said lots of women cry because of this environment, to let out their frustration, he didn’t say they cry to get what they want. I was a corporate lawyer and lots of women, me included, cried. Never in meetings, but as a response to the bullish behaviour and a release mechanism when you’re angry and overworked. You just pick yourself up again afterwards, but he’s just pointing out she can’t do that, so why place herself in such an environment. That’s my interpretation.
I had no idea this drama was about to air so I was pleasantly surprised when I found episodes available. :)I thought…
The make up is heavy, especially the false lashes. I wouldn’t have had a problem except it looks weird in the scenes when she’s meant to be poor and scruffy! Why give her ugly scrappy bin clothes but winged eyeliner and heavy lashes? :s
You guys please spoil me. Does episode 28 they resolve the conflict ? and they have a break up scene ?
The break up is in ep 27, the preview for ep 30 looks to be when they get back together. But there’s no angst. The FL is smart and almost immediately senses something else is going on so she never loses trust in him and he never stops caring. It’s really good as drama break ups go! No misunderstandings.
I know many find xu li unappealing....but she is brave. She likes someone and goes for it. Of course no1 has an…
It’s the fact she’s a loser who gives up everything to mindlessly moon over some guy like a 12 year old because he’s good looking.
I honestly can’t think of a ML who I’ve liked doing the same thing. Usually they fall for the FL personality, her kindness. XC barely talked to XL and she already applied for a job to stare at him all day
The way she organises his belongings like she’s his wife and throws strops when he’s not even her bf is also childish and lame behaviour.
You can like someone and not hero worship/fan girl them. She’s crossed the line.
I have watched so many c-dramas now, but in this one they say "I love you" so many times instead of "I like you".…
It’s because the main leads here are childhood friends who fell in love before they started dating, so it makes sense to say I love you. ‘I like you’ would be too shallow to express their feelings.
I assume in other dramas the confession is usually to someone they’ve had a crush on, so ‘I love your would be inappropriate. The distinction between like and love is the same in Chinese as in English.

Hope that clears it up.
